"Just get her built and boosted at GTM and call it a day" - Sam

"Yeah, but the RB26DETT is mad tyte JDM, yo. It doesn't matter that it would be a significant downgrade from a GTM TT'd VQ and prohibitively expensive and difficult (if even possible at all), it's Jay Dee M!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" - Betty

God this forum never disappoints.

Haha nice find!! If you told me 2 years ago that I'd swap out my engine for an RB I would've told you you're definitely smoking something illegal. But ever since I drove my friends 2JZ powered G35 my life was never the same. Then I met his R34 and figured I need to get rid of this VQ asap haha.

In all honesty though, I would've totally gone with the GTM route if I lived in the US, over here though it's a bit different, the only qualified UpRev tuner retired and used to charge more than I paid for the labor of the engine & transmission swap.

Amazing project Sam, I love that rear diffuser.. Definitely going to pick one up when they start to mass produce...

What's the car lowered on during the CR photoshoot?! I know in the beginning of the thread you were on eibachs.. is that still the case?

Im lowered on eibachs and I'm kind of kicking myself in the head because my rear is not that low. I've had them for 4 months or so, I would think they've settled by now .

Thanks Novel, I went with BC Coils because I wanted to stiffen the ride mostly because one of the engine pulleys was too close to the swaybar.

A lot of things have been happening both on a personal level and with the car and I got too busy to update this thread. I am genuinely starting to believe the car is jynxed lol

Here's a summary of the past two months. It all started when my driveshaft started vibrating. I was daily driving my G so I figured I'd take it to the shop after work. I didn't make it to the shop:

The driveshaft snapped and tore a piece of the gearbox with it, it also made a nice hole in the floor. I got replacements from the salvage yard and put everything back in. Took the car out of for a test drive and zero driveshaft vibrations thankfully. The gearbox however was making all sorts of clicking noises. The gearbox I was sold was a POS basically. So my mechanic opened both gearboxes up and used the best of both parts to make a great gearbox. Everything went back in and the car ran great.

I then took it to the dyno to tune it (hoping to share some good news on here) and someone had stolen the AFR sensor from there. So that had to wait. I drove back home and the next day, I realized the engine started acting up, felt like it was misfiring at a certain rpm. AFR gauge started showing a very rich reading and the car was blowing black smoke even on idle. I hooked up my laptop and it turned out the MAP Sensor reading was frozen and wouldn't respond. Babied the car back to the shop to see what's up. My mechanic called me this morning to tell me that the MAP Sensor hose has come off the intake manifold. So the plan is to go to the shop on Saturday and hopefully tune it. Whoever's out there casting all these spells on my car, will you please chill?

Time for an update.. guess how much power my car made at 15psi:
https://www.myg37.com/forums/engine-...ml#post3713825

LOL I just can't get a break. As soon as I saw the number I got scared, pulled off a few degrees of timing and let the car cool down a little. Before unstrapping her off the dyno and trying her out on the street. The car is nowhere near 700whp. My butt dyno says somewhere around 350whp. Still a blast to drive but she is definitely going back on the dyno in a few days.

I've been following your build pretty closely, not because I plan on doing this (insane) build, but because I appreciate a well engineered car. I think the kinds of problems you're having are pretty normal considered how you mated together two different platforms. I hope you exorcise the last of those demons though.

How much the swap run you approximately?
Also what did you drive on the down time, you have a second vehicle.
Sorry if this has been asked/answered already.
I'm glad you got all the kinks worked out, what's your next stage?
