Video shows quite the dramatic change. those throws look quite short.

I may have to think of this one a bit more.

Great vid, John. I'm tempted now.

Question: how is shift effort? As in, do you feel you need more or less force to move the shifter between gears?

Thanks, Liam.

Effort feels the same. No change there as far as I'm aware. But really, the only way to truly assess that would be to compare both at the same time. Hop from one car to the other. You're coming to the August meet-up, right?

Ah, that big bolt thing isn't a plug, per se. It's an adjustment that's connected to the internals. Found this thread today that explains it better:

Something leaking at the steering rack - Nissan 370Z Forum

So I'm thinking I keep an eye on it, and keep an eye on my PS fluid levels. As long as my power steering doesn't feel compromised, and fluid levels are consistent, then I suppose I don't care if that adjustment nut weeps fluid over time.

Well, I care, I just don't want to spend any more money right now. After talking to a Nissan tech today (because buying a replacement lower rubber shift linkage boot), he said when they see that, they just replace the entire unit under warranty. That's nice and all, but I'm no longer under B2B warranty, and Power Steering isn't covered under Drivetrain Warranty.

Because of course it isn't. Anyway... here's the new underside shift-linkage boot:

New comparison video.

...with a customized stand-off created by LatheWerks, in order to bring the shift **** back up to normal, OEM height.

Very well done there John, looks like that extension worked well, and what a great way to do a comparo, from the exact same reference point & sequence, kudos!
