Rochester's new G

Just a few days ago, in the last week of January 2012, I purchased this 2011 G37S Sedan 6MT, in Moonlight White with the Stone Leather interior. I found it through AutoTrader.com, sitting for about a month at Ray Catena Infiniti, in Edison, New Jersey. Being one model year old, it's a used car, but with only 3,900 miles (!!) on the odometer. So... barely used. :p

For MSRP, the car was approximately $42K USD brand new, they were asking $38K, I offered $30k, and they countered with a hard stop at $32K. Everything felt very fair. And while that's still a lot more money than I was originally planning on spending, (because I was searching for a '09), it is undeniably worth every penny.

So here it is all tucked away in the garage as I await NY plates. If things go according to plan, I'll keep bumping this thread throughout the years, because I certainly plan on modifying it over the length of ownership. And I plan on owning it a long while... knock on wood.

Hello, myG37.com. :BOUNCE:

Well, driving it home from NJ put quite a bit on the car. Imagine being exhausted after a 7 hour train ride and 3 hours at the dealership, finding yourself in a new car, in a strange city, during rush hour, in the dark... fumbling with a Navigation System, having never used one before in your life. It was an adventure. Took 6 hours to get home.

Anyway, I'm at 4400 miles right now.

It is a race. You are winning.

It was an out-of-state purchase. NY delivers the plates to the dealership, and then they FedEx the plates to me. It takes a few weeks. In the meantime, I've got some kind of documentation taped inside the rear window.

But none of that matters to your point, because I live in NY. Two tags.

You probably do. It seems most Maxima owners move on to a stable of 3 cars: another Maxima, the Infiniti G, and a variety of BMW's, with a pretty even distribution. And, well... here I am. :coolio:

Here's another picture:

...and here's another. While I like the interior, and I do like it a lot, I thought the previous Sport Package styling a little more appealing, with the black steering wheel and the black dash components. It softens things up a bit much using matching colors on those parts.

I'm still glad I went with the 2011 rather than holding out for the right 2009 to come along. The good points of the current style outweigh the nits. (Like the weird rear bumper.)

The problem with the bumper is the lip gets dirty. Why did you do an out of state purchase? No Infiniti dealers near you?

I live kind of near the dealership. They are very highly rated and professional.

There are dealerships near me, and in every neighboring city. But finding a used, 2011 Sedan 6MT, in white, with only 3900 miles on the clock, and a redunkulous good deal... for that, I had to go where the car was.

That's about the 3rd unsolicited and positive opinion I've heard about Ray Catena Infiniti. Now that the car is actually home and the new normal is starting to creep in, I'm thinking it's all true. I got a great deal, and they were great to deal with. There was only one snag, but it was a paperwork thing. We got it resolved with a little extra time at the dealership.

Good luck with it. The interior looks great. One day I would like to drive the 6mt. I drove a stick for many years, but as my dd, I gave up on the third pedal due to the traffic.

Thanks. For the next few years, I'll probably be lurking more than posting, because the car payment trumps mods. But eventually, mods will creep in.

Just like the Max. Bought it new, paid a note over five years, and then modded it slowly over the next five. 10 years later, G-Sedan.
