I thought he had more class than that.” If that’s superficial then I’m guilty. But I don’t think so.

But I agree with you that ricers may be a bit younger than the rest of us owners, and perhaps that suggests they have low self esteem and are just looking for someone to notice them; sort of like getting a pierced body part or tattoo. I would hope they grow out of it and move on to more important endeavors.

You're right, everybody cares to some extend, just depends on how we choose to act/be affected by it. I can say superficial, we all are.

I see pink grill and tattoos just as different ways of expressing himself/herself, like singing and dancing. Although some interest me more than others.

In some cases, while it might not be you, he's not implying that it's true for everybody that has a tattoo.

Perhaps I’m old, but would you want this guy taking your daughter out on a date?

Honestly, out the of the years you have been out and about, when was the last time you've seen a person tattoed like that besides a circus? I have a tattoo on my arm, I did not get it to boost my "self esteem", I got it for personal reasons.

The thread is pointless. Every car has a personality, so does the driver. Imagine if everyone in the US had the same car, what fun would that be?

I have a friend that bought a Lamborghini Gallardo, not even two days into it, it was already RWD, and had straight pipes. To people like you, it's pointless/tasteless, to enthusiast, it makes perfect sense.

Answer this question.

It seems to me that every thread that pretains to modding, you always have a rebuttal. Why are you even participating in the forums if you have nothing offer?

IE:

-Tint thread, you brought up that its illegal, BLAH BLAH BLAH. OP still got it done.

-Wheels

-Exhaust

-Suspension

-Emblems

Blah Blah Blah.

If you are an "enthusiast", you should have bought a Buggati. No mods needed. But considering all of your post, I think it would have suited you best to drive around in a Buick.

There is NOTHING wrong with wanting to tint your windows, a tasteful sounding exhaust that is reasonably quite, or some wheels that are delicately picked out.

Buuuuttt, when you put 10% percent tint all the way around, exhaust so loud and obnoxious it could wake the dead, and 24 inch rims with crazy offsets and 6 degrees of negative camber, the car so slammed you can't go over a pop rock, LOOK AT ME Sho-Gun body kit and a 3 person bench wing/spoiler/hang glider on the back, IMO is ridiculous, and I think that's what he is saying as well.
Exactly!!!!

Wow guys, Im truly sorry for offending anybody in here, Im not trying to come off as a person with a superiority complex or anything like that either, Its just that when I see a certain "type" of person, or population driving a (IMO) distastefull G, it makes the prestige of owning this car go away for me.

I honestly purchased this car because I sold my Z too quickly and I was in a bind. The G beat up on the 335tt in most comparison tests, I was familiar with the quality of Nissan, so I took a chance and got the car. Not a great choice, not a bad choice...that was that. I modded every single car I have ever owned, except for this one. Why? because I felt that I should be more focused on my education, career and future than what rim or spoiler looked better on my car. That is why I did it, and that was the logic behind my thinking. Some of you may agree, some of you may not agree. Its my opinion.

Ok so getting back to my original post. There is tasteful and distasteful things you can do to your G's. It is your choice, but my main point was that I expect a G owner to be a little removed from the "fast and furious" generation. When I see somebody with my car riding around like that, I dont want the car anymore--plain and simple. I simply did not expect that to happen in less than a year of having this car.

I live in Central NJ, very close to NY, so that can explain a bunch as well. The type of people that are involved in this hobby around here are definately not "pillars of society".

Like I said I put it out there because I became enraged when I saw the pic of the G on here with Pink badges!!! I thought it was histerical and I wanted to see what you guys would respond with.

Thanks

Sorry, I thought this thread was closed. I just happened to check on it and I was quite shocked! Thanks for your concern though.

I did however notice that somebody on here said something intelligent about people seeing guys mod thier G's horribly... then catagorizing them with other goups of undesirable people.

IMO I think generally that the people that mod cars to any extent, that purchased a G, may have been trying to get away from the stigma attached to the younger "ricer" generation with regard to import car modding. My point is that some modded G's are beginning to look alot like that the thing they may have been trying to seperate themselves from. Its just my theory and something I wanted to point out.

Also, I believe that there are mods that you can do to your car that are universally appealing to everybody. Lets face it, most of the cars on here that are well liked look exactly the same, done in the same style, from rims, to kits, to subtle things like l.e.d lights. I think most people on here may agree with that. I think the tasteful things are universally tasteful, just look at your comments!

Here's another example, in 98 when I was into the import scene and all that bs, I owned many honda's. The styled body kits and all that stuff was excepted with this brand. But if you looked over at the BMW M3's owners, the Toyota TT Supra owners or the RX7 TT owners, none of those guys would put a retarded wing, kit, horrible wheels or a paint job on any of those cars, which at the time were very close in price camparison to our G's. (I know you guys on here are going to start an argument about these cars I mentioned, but I mentioned them for price similarity alone, and nothing else.)

In a nutshell im saying respect the car. The car says class, keep it that way and there are universally tasteful mods nomatter what anybody says.

If you bought the G for the prestige factor, you bought the wrong car.

You seem to be getting a bit upset on the way I was posting. That was not my intent. Certainly, you did not see the humor in my last post and that’s unfortunate.

But to answer your question: I fully understand that this forum is dominated by younger owners who enjoy modding their cars. But in a sense of offering a diverse opinion and a different point of view from the mainstream here, I believe that I have something to contribute and that such views enrich the site as a whole. If you are closed to such minority opinions, then just ignore my posts. I will not be offended.
