DIY: Reset TPMS Warning by yourself for FREE
Set the tire pressures
Turned ignition to ON
Grounded wire -- light began to flash slowly
Drove the car about 10-15 minutes
Light went off
...but it never came back on.
So I put the tire pressure back to normal and have driven all week (100 miles/day commute) and the light is still off.
So I guess it worked.
Don't mean to intrude on the G37 forum as I am a 370Z owner. But, I may have a solution to some of the problems noted in this forum.
My problem started as a "Malfunction" indication by the Low Tire Pressure Warning Lamp (Blinks for 1 minute at start up and stays on). Like many of you I have become an expert at... air down tires to relearn pressure, KOEO, short 6 times, drive, air up...over and over… just couldn’t get it to work.
With all the combinations that I have tried (ON short, ON short OFF, low tire pressure, high pressure, correct pressure, hot tires, cold tires, etc., etc.), I can now make my light stay on forever, blink forever, or even go back into malfunction mode. But until now I could not get the dang this to go off.
SO... I read the whole forum and can’t remember seeing it… What about the spare tire!!!
Procedure Note:
Everything per Modme’s first post procedure except the following:
The 2010 370Z requires me to short the plug 5 times immediately after the car is ON (first press of button without foot on brake is for ACC, second press of button without foot on brake for ON). If you wait a few seconds to short the plug, it will not work. If you short the plug a sixth time the light stays on forever.
Anyway. I finally checked my spare. It was at 40 psi. Should be at 60 psi. I air’d it up to 60 psi. Followed Modme’s procedure verbatim with exception to the note above (5 immediate shorts after ON).
Steps 1 thru 3. OK
Step 4. I do not have a key, just the button. So, KOEO.
Step 5. 5 immediate shorts as noted above.
Step 6. OK
Step 7. Push on the brake, press the button to start the car and drive. Took 5 minute for the light to go out.
Step 8. Light came back on it 2 minutes. Went home, air’d up the tires. Normal car start up. Drove for 1 minute 32 seconds. Light went out. ALL GOOD!!!
Good luck, hope this helps.

I haven’t been able to confirm if it does or not. The spare has a rubber stem so I was somewhat in doubt, but I have seen examples of rubber stemmed tpms'. I checked the pressure anyway, it was low, I air'd it up and tried the procedure for about the 10th time. It worked. Maybe there is another subtle difference with the Z that I didn’t pick up on.
Maybe just the fact that it requires an “immediate 5 shorts after ON” is worth the post.

Has anhyboy tried the $150 device for your laptop that allows you to enter the codes for the second set of TPMS and swap sets back and forth?
I had found this online a year go but never sprun for the cost. My friend has bought one and I will try in the fall. To me that seems like a better way to go.
I wish I could find the link for it but can't

The reviews at the link I just posted are pretty good, though, so maybe they got some kinks worked out and they're OK now.
Just wanted to thank modme for this amazing info!!! Like others here have mentioned, I needed the car to be started before entering learn mode. I believe that the second or two delay from "KOEO" position to "engine ON" position is enough to reset the learning mode if entered into during the KOEO position.
It worked like a charm the first time I tired it with the engine on!!

OK, this thread is long and documents everybody's attempt at the reset. I need to do this procedure on my 2010 1/2 G.
Could someone please restate the procedure as it currently stands? I can't read 13 pages at work.

Okay everyone, I got my TPMS system to reset and reset the tire pressure to the correct air pressure and thought everything was great. However, after driving about 20 minutes or so, the TPMS warning light came on again. It doesn't beep and it doesn't flash only comes on and stays solid. This was my issue before I followed the directions MODME posted. I don't believe it is a problem with the steps to reset the system, but maybe something with one or more of my sensors. Has anyone had this issue? If so, can you explain what was done to correct. I have an 05 G35 sedan. Any help would be great. Thanks!!!!
okay, I finally got the diagnostic mode started and I had several codes stored. Now I'm trying to clear the stored codes. Per the directions, I turned the car off with the connector grounded, but when I put it back into diagnostic mode again I continue to get the same codes. My question now is how do you know when the codes have been cleared?
