Why is that, and what is it you're feeling?

In about a half year, I'm planning on a TWM STS and that Z1 poly transmission mount, and now you got me thinking about these little shifter springs again... which is maddening, because I had already come to a nevermind conclusion. Normally, I hate doing mods at the same time, but these three mods line up so perfectly, it's hard not to schedule it that way.

You keep pulling me back, man.

It turns out that at the time I installed the springs and lighter shift **** I had also inadvertantly twisted one of the shift boots so the shift lever was ultra springy back to neutral. It was a bit too much. Once I fixed that it was nice and smooth, especially with the B&M shift kit. I don't think these springs are an essential mod, but no complaints with my shifting now. If you feel like adding the springs, definitely do it at the same time as the tranny mount. And don't try removing the bolts with a crescent wrench like the instructions suggest.

Installed a B&M short throw shifter a while back, but wanted to drive with it a while before posting up a review. It was very tight and notchy when I first installed it, but it has since softened up significantly. It feels great and no complaints. A good mod and a high quality part if you are considering a shift kit. I posted up a lot more info. about this in the review/drivetrain section for those considering the part.

I recently installed a new shortened Redline shift boot and a new tear drop delrin Torque Solution shift **** to get the heights right with the B&M short shifter. Easy to install since I already installed a regular height Redline shift boot (probably will be for sale if anyone wants it). Everything fits and works excellently.

Thanks! It is also a lot easier to shift now with everything at the right height. Before the shift **** was so low I would drag my knuckles on the trim like a neanderthal.

On a side note: I am one step closer to having the gray Evo wheels fit. I got the first one back today for a test fit and it actually fit with those hub centric spacers you recommended. They barely overbored and re-centered the holes and put in very thin walled sleeves. They are going to finish the second wheel tomorrow and hopefully I can get tires mounted and balanced this weekend to make sure they work without vibrating the steering wheel out of my hand. Fingers crossed...

Yes I finally got all 4 and they all fit and no longer wobble horribly on the highway. They look great, especially with the better offset that fills out the wheel wells much better. I am going to re-torque them this weekend to make sure everything is working as it should and then I will get up some pics.

No worries. It's not your fault that the employees at the "highly recommended" machine shop in town turned out to be morons

Evo studs are 12x1.5, Infiniti is 12x1.25

As far as a performance difference, I do not notice much hp gain, but it definitely revs a lot faster which is a nice improvement. I always thought the engine was very slow to react to throttle inputs. Not anymore. Don't make this your first mod, but for how cheap it is, it is worth the upgrade- especially if you are already replacing the belt.

Quick question.... which pulley did you chose, the Standard or Underdrive? I'm looking at this part as well and am trying to weigh the two options.

I did the standard diameter and that is what I would recommend. I had an underdrive pulley once on a car and every time you idle at a stoplight the lights would dim and the stereo would get quiet. That and the fact you have to use a different sized belt is enough to stick with the standard diameter pulley

Finally, SUCCESS! After screwing around with a machine shop for the better part of 2 months, the painted Evo wheels finally fit. Don't try this at home kids! Pretty nice for snow tires.
