How many mm clearance do you have there? 3mm or more and I wouldn't worry, less than that is pretty tight. Subaru STIs run real tight clearance at their brakes, like 2mm from what I've read w/ some of their OEM wheel sets so I wouldn't worry too much if you've been fine so far.

Will poke about 40mm outside the fender. For a sedan that wheel would have to be about a +40 and a little camber to get 275s tucking inside the fender, and the wheel would still be outside the fender almost an inch.

It is a little unnerving having such minimal clearance, but should be ok at that amount.

I assume you have 5mm more you can go out at the tire edge, if so, you're good to go w/ 265s, if not, then

Those will be fine, about 2.5% shorter, but running a square setup won't cause problems, just a firmer ride vs. a 255/40

Wheels will be about 17mm outside the fender edge when looking straight down. With a stretched tire like a 255/35/20 they should tuck into the fender under heavy compression but will probably need camber greater than -2 to keep from rubbing and might need to get the front fender edge flat-rolled like the rear.

I think I'd keep looking for a set that's easier to run.

Help!!!! I’m lost

So I’ve search the forum and have no clear answer in deciding an offset. I have a 2013 G37s coupe. My plans are to throw on some wheel and tires then lower it. Is it a bad idea to go from 19 inch to 18 inch. The reason I ask is I would like to go 18 but I’m to worried about fitment issues with offset and BBK. I’ve contacted the manufacture of the wheels and was bothered by them saying it might fit. If I’m going to be throwing money towards their business I figured they would have had a 100% perfect answer .

Do you have a specific wheel in mind? There's a lot of 18s, especially from Japan-sourced companies that will clear the BBK but many won't.

My 18" Wedssports have good BBK clearance for example.

2013 X Sedan lowered on coils. Have a set of 19x9.5 +40 wheels on order. I’d love to run a square tire set up if possible, but I’d like to stay wider than 245. Will 255/265 fit the front without issues? If not can I run 285 rear and 255 front? Thanks!

255/40/19s are perfect on those wheels, check Zahy Matars build thread for that setup.

I wouldn't push it w/ 265s though unless you aren't against having to flat roll that fender edge in front. I run staggered 245/285s on my 9.5 +38s the 285s fit real flush and the 255s in front would be better than the 245s (that's what I'll run when my fronts are ready for new treads). The 255/40 front 285/35 rear will be about 0.6% smaller in back which is ok for your AWD.
