That certainly is clean. Amazing, really, considering the age.

You SoCal cars... no aluminum corrosion at the front of your engine. Lucky.

Don't you hate the soot that builds up between the rad cover and the overflow bin?

Just going to use the OEM 720p monitor with it, more than enough. i guess the only benefit I really got from doing the update was the newest version of bluetooth.

P.S. I dont think Motorvate is going to end up releasing the GTR gauges as a product. He has to make new boards that plug into the OBD port for them to work, its too much of a lift for no profit in a really niche market. He's working on another gauge thats more like a pod with multiple options for data display. Much more compact and modern. I need to go see him about adding a bluetooth server and some sensors for oil pressure and stuff sometime before spring, Ill see if I can get any more behind the scenes.
Yeah, I just wanted it to display the onboard stuff in the GTR gauge screen format. I guess I could do the same with carplay and OBD Fusion, but... I can't imagine what the lag would be.

I've got a discrete OBD gauge for water temp and have a discrete electrical gauge for oil pressure, so... those are covered.

If it is anything like it is on my BMW the lag is absolutely horrendous. Both Torque Pro and OBDFusion have horrible delay/ lag in the displays. I've tried finagling every setting, different adapters, custom PIDs and it still polls at a turtles pace. Don't know if it's the apps, a BMW "thing," the iPhone / iPad / android head unit thing or what.

Neither one, in my case, can accurately measure boost but that's a BMW thing apparently.

To be fair, I never tried the gauges on the G37 for reasons I won't discuss here.

Maybe you'll have better luck but I gave up

Bluetooth/wifi all have horrendous lag/latency; they're just not the right format for quick data polling. That should be wired, and IMHO some sort of ethernet based protocol (like mil 1553). No need for multiple handshaking and security when you're direct wired.

The lag on our Audi is so bad that the engine will cut for stop-start and the dongle still thinks it's idling at 800RPM for about a minute.

Not all SoCal cars 😉. I just enjoy cleaning small areas when I am in there working on other stuff. I do the same underneath the car when I change oil. Labor of love I guess.

I did just degreased my son’s CRV this weekend because his engine bay was filthy. Kind of amazing how well Foamy Gunk works with almost no added elbow grease.

Did you detect some soot between the radiator cover and overflow bin? Around the valve covers near both PCV valves is the “sootiest”

Bluetooh Classic maybe? BLE can run connection intervals down to 7.5ms, so the lag for say an oil gauge shouldn’t be terrible. It’s possible that the BLE transceiver is in deep sleep to save power?

I will have to check the dongles but 2 are Bluetooth and the other is Wi-Fi. The data seems to "poll" every 15-30sec. which, for basic data (temps, etc.) is fine but for anything else "real time" (boost/ RPM/ etc.) it's pointless.

I am guessing it is an either a BMW "thing" or some sort of latency in the app(s) as they calculate the PIDs and draw the gauges.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As mentioned I never tried the gauge feature in the G and it's not worth the hassle hooking up the dongle to test them (on the G). Though, once I do to the BMW what I did to the G I definitely will not bother at all then.

But, with the current trend of these types of apps going "subscription-based" I envision more "limitations" on the horizon.

Edited to add: Three (3) different dongles: (1) BAFX (BT), (1) Veepeak OBDCheck BLE, and (1) Veepeak OBDCheck Wi-Fi.

My new ride. 58k miles from Florida. Stellar service history, not a hint of rust. Work in progress (as you can tell from the back wheels which will get powder coated this week). Final touches will be to transfer my black mirror caps, black door handles and black window trim over and re-seat the trunk spoiler (just on temporarily for fitment).

Took as many of the parts from the Blue G onto the new G as possible, including both front seats and one door panel. Transferred over my Stillen exhaust, front strut bar and K&N filters (although it also came with newish K&N filters in it already) Also did the PCV valves and gaskets while I was in there. Paint corrected trunk, roof and hood so far and ceramic coated those areas. Transferred over my dark gray badges.

Just got MD inspected today with no issues (except the tint which is now off to pass inspection and is getting re-done tomorrow.

Also, better pics to come once finalized!

Agreed. That white S sedan looks like they all used to back in the day. I miss those days.

Thanks guys! I hope this is my last G revival!

Although, as I mentioned in my other thread, there is a really nice 6MT 2013 black sedan in TX right now with only 68k miles

BTW - if anyone is near MD, I know the junkyard where my old car is.

1) Near mint interior (seats, panels, etc)
2) A new oem underbody brace rust proofed and painted red (for XS cars).
3) G37 coupe rear sway bar with new sway bar links
4) Z1 BBK
5) Two gray powder coated wheels with almost new Conti Sport Contact 225 tires on them
6) New steering rack
7) Engine with 68k miles
8) OEM exhaust is from my white car and in very good shape.

Refreshing isn't it? Love how that Moonlight White Pearl stands the test of time.

Even the staggered sport model Duckfeet are transitioning into a nostalgic type of existence within the community.

I have the ability to put my old black oem door handles and mirror covers on. Would you do it or too much black? I initially wasn’t going to bother taking my old black handles off and then I AI’d a white G with black handles and it looked really good. Problem is, the G37 door handles are really ugly, so when they are contrasting you see that even more. No question my G35 coupe handles were much better looking.

As for the duckfeet, I really like them, but I’m not sure if I like them because I actually like the design or just because you knew they were on the Sport models and so you liked them because of that. Hmmm. I think it’s a bit of both.

Possibly also just that they are SO much better looking than the oem 17” rim designs. TBH, the oem 17” rims are some of the, how do I say this nicely, blandest designs I’ve ever seen. Shame on Infiniti for those - and there are SO many of them on the road…
