Car is filthy but I couldn't wait to share lol. Finally got majority of the work done, at least the mechanical stuff. Still have to repaint the front lip and then install the android auto module, clean up and install the halo taillights, and meet up with Motorvate DIY for a GTR gauges update and fuel pressure sensor install and then I'll be done.
Today, installed
Q50 solid front axels
BC coilovers
2 new rear wheel bearings
Extended ARP studs
Konig wheels
Question. Educate me on Q50 solid front axels on the G. Is this an AWD workaround for axle issues when lowered?
That's right. Depending on how much lower you go, you can get a few different axels. The q50 ones are 10mm longer than the G and the second half of 2013 coupe axels are 15mm longer. So if you drop between 0.5 and 1.5", the q50 ones are what you want. If going down 2" or lower, then the coupe ones are the choice. If you're not dropping too low, the coupe ones are too long and will actually bind and grind. 90% of cases the q50 is the better option. And then from the multiple aftermarket options for the q50 axels, trakmotive makes solid axels instead of hollow ones you get with most other brands.
Verdict is still out on if it will help or not, but they fit perfectly and there is 0 play. All the literature found online seems like this should do the trick. Fingers crossed. I've gone through 7 axels in 12 years, so guess I'll know if these did the trick in a year or two lol.
