Back in 2014 we started an annual forum meetup. It ran for the next four years, and was a lot of effort to bring it together, but worth it, IMO.

The community here has shrunk quite a bit since then, but maybe you could start that up again?

And then this one a few years later:

Back when you guys were doing these get togethers, I was regretfully too tied up with work + school. Watched from the sidelines tho

Fast forward to now, I generally have way more bandwidth and would gladly attend.

The catch is I’m a tragically bad planner. Lame excuse, I know. But if I committed to taking lead, I’d almost certainly fall short.

Funny you bring it up, was just thinking about how the G sedan crew had a nice run with in-person meets. At this point it seems it’ll return once our cars are called “vintage” (prob by gen Z’ers lol)

By the time the fourth meet-up happened in 2017, there was a noticeable change in the quality of things. The crowd was getting much younger, and the cars were getting a little more hooptie. Not that there weren't some undeniable stand-outs, just saying... things change. I can only guess what a meetup would look like today for a vehicle that's been out of production for over a decade.

Agreed, meeting up with a bunch of very new owners would be a dubious proposition at best.

Like to think that I’ve got pretty genuine interest to connect with all walks of life. But I draw the line at flame and pop tunes lol

But does the “clapped” G37 crowd even know about these forums? They seem concentrated on social media

Anyways, I think you’re saying the ship has sailed. You might be spot on

Yes to all of that. Sadly.

If you, me and the Mikes and others met up, that would be great. However, one of the Mikes is on the west coast and the other is in the deep south.

... and the last time I took the G on a road trip, the heater hose connector shat the bed LOL.

John it would be cool if you could fly down for Z Nationals in ATL or something like that... I think I could limp mine out to that again.

That would be fun. And for a minute I started considering it, air fare and all that.

Then I looked up the dates. We're vacationing on one of those European river cruises during that time.

That's a great pic! Anyone left from that group other than you? Where was it held?

Oh god, that would be none. I'm the only one.

It was at a park in Wilkes-Barre / Scranton, PA.

We'll be between my sabbatical and Athens for Thanksgiving so although I have the time for ZNats I might not have the energy.

Also - kudos on the river cruise - that's one of the few ways we'd consider a cruise too. What river(s)?

The Danube. I believe the trip starts in Munich and ends in Budapest.

I'm anticipating most interaction with locals will be a touristy thing, and people won't be hating on me for being American.

Yeah, me too. I've read that most of us get the 'man, sucks be you" pity rather than being antagonistic towards Americans.

For the Athens thing we'd be staying with folks we've stayed with before, and they seem to think Greece is too self-absorbed at the moment to worry about American tourists.

That sounds like it could be an epic vacation, John. One of our wine clubs is actually hosting a cruise down the Danube in 2026 and my wife have discussed doing it, so I'd be really curious to hear about your trip. Although, my wife really wants to go to Italy, so that might have to come first... as they say... happy wife, happy life!

Here's the description of the cruise from one of the newsletters that we get.Our Oso Libre Danube Cruise group is now 53 strong, AND there's still room for shipmates! We'll embark from tiny Vilshofen, a lovely village on the Danube. Once onboard AmaMora, sail downriver to Passau, a larger and historic Bavarian city at the confluence of three rivers, the Inn, the Ilz and the Danube. Over the centuries Passau has prospered with shipborne trade and commerce.

My bottom weatherstripping on all four doors is all stretched out (they are referred to Seals). These parts are discontinued in Canada at least. Put the part numbers in Google and came up with Amayama. The price seems Very reasonable, which is a little worrying. :-)

I guess I will have to see if they ship and then what the quality is like.
Just ordered and received a bunch of parts from them. No problem at all. Everything was perfect.
