Miles Per Gallon Feedback
Just took a ~2000 mile trip from North Carolina to Michigan and back. Got over 500 miles on three tanks of gas and got a best of 29.74 with three tanks over 29 MPG. All hwy and w/in 5 MPH of speed limit. 28K miles on car.
Since I got the ride mid September 2010, I've been keeping track using iPhone app called Gas Cubby. According to the stats my average is 14.85 mpg, max was 23.26, and low 8.33 (scarry). This is approximately across about only 4000 miles and $1k in money (give or take)... Either or very expensive, but thats what you get for stop and go queens new york driving.
I just did a rough estimate of running 160 miles on half a tank of gas which comes out to about 16mpg. I drive 75% highway, 25% stop and go traffic on city streets. My estimate is just overall and I did not change my driving habits which is getting on the throttle semi hard at stops (gotta have a little fun with the G), but shifting usually around 4k rpm. It should be noted that I'm running Stillen headers, high flow cats, and HKS exhaust. I was really surprised to find out the G has a 20 gallon gas tank!
I get about 19 mpg hwy and my wife gets about 25 mpg (You can see who has the heavy foot). Around town we are getting around 15 to 17mpg with mixed driving. The more my wife drives the better it gets.
Wait. So 10 miles, plus 35 miles, plus 10 miles = 55 miles. You commute 55 miles one way to work everyday? That equates to 110 per day, or 26,400 miles of commuting over the course of 48 weeks. Even getting your 25 or so MGP, that is over $4,200 in gas annually (at $4.00 per gallon for premium). Not to mention tires, oil changes and wear and tear on your vehicle components. That is crazy!
Mostly commute driving for me. In the morning (5:00 am), little traffic, so it's mainly 10 miles of interstate driving at 75 mph, followed by 35 miles of a heavily patrolled bridge (Lake Pontchartrain Causeway), and another 10 miles of 45 mph on feeder roads.
In the afternoon, the feeder roads are a stop and go crawl until I get back to the Bridge.

Just a quick note to you guys saying you only squeeze 18gal into a "near empty tank". When the dash readout shows empty and --- miles remaining, you actually still have a gallon or two in the tank. It's basically so if you're an idiot like me and run it to what you think is dry, you actually still have a few miles left to get it to a gas station.
Anyway, my best MPG was my trip from VA to CA where I was averaging 27-29 MPG the whole way. My worst is my commute to work where I saw it average 5 MPG one morning. I think I was in traffic for 3 hours though. That was fun. Normal is about 15-20 to and from work, which is 50% highway, 25% California rush hour highway, 25% surface streets.
