Miles Per Gallon Feedback
I'm a new G37 Coupe owner (Journey model). It's a 2008, with a 5 spd auto. I've had it for about a month now, and I've been checking the mileage pretty carefully as I've filled up. I do about 50-50 highway and stop/go driving, and I've been getting between 20 and 21 MPG, which I think is pretty good, considering the car. I'm a fairly conservative driver, but I get on it once in a while. I'm planning on an extended driving trip of several hundred miles on the interstate next week, I'll report on what mileage I get when I get back.

Here's the follow-up to my earlier post. I took a driving trip last week from Los Angeles to the Bay area and back, 740 miles total. Took the I5 north, traffic was remarkably heavy. Drove 70 as much as I could, but was often lower due to traffic conditions. Got 26+ mpg. Took the coast route back. Slower with lots of twists and turns (very nice, scenic drive). Got 30+ mpg on the return trip. Not sure why the difference, but I think it is mainly speed based. I think if you have the patience to keep the speed at 60, you'll get 30 or better mpg. Personally, I don't, and will accept the 28 mpg trip average as being pretty good, considering the car. (Really opened it up for the first time during a passing maneuver and went from 50 to 100 in about 3 seconds. Felt pretty good!)
2011 xS coupe - driving relatively sane, the best I have gotten on the road was 25.2. It is usually between 23.8 to 24.5.
City driving goes between 13.8 to 15.2.

I expressed concern to the dealer on the MPG, and they said the car takes a while to break in. I am presently at 9800 miles.

I had a sedan loaner with 2700 miles on it over the Christmas holiday which I took two road trips in.
<O
The first trip I got 29.2 and the second 28.5, driving my same style. I know the sedan gets a little better mileage, but this was more than a little better. <O

I believe the all-wheel-drive model (the "x" model) normally gets lower gas mileage.
This stands to reason, considering the additional parasitic horsepower loss when driving all four wheels. Perhaps other "x" model owners can relate their experiences.

I just got an '08 G37 5 speed auto with 24,000 miles and love it. I'm getting about 21 MPG on the first two tanks I've driven. I'm not babying it by any means. I hope I can get mid to upper 20's on the highway.
