At least one reason it is "recommended" is the fact that it does solve the tick.

Personally I think it is very bad business to build an engine, have an issue with it, come up with a fix for it, and then expect the customer to pay such exorbitant prices for it. They should have made it available to the owners of these engines for a reasonable price, in line with a regular synthetic like Mobil1 or PP.

Looks solid! Can you give a few details on your driving habits and/or conditions?

I live in the Houston TX area and it was a mild winter and spring, not too much heat during this OCI. Lots of highway miles on this oil - several trips down I-10 to New Orleans and Baton Rouge during football season. No track days on this oil. I drive to get good mileage on the highway (moderate acceleration, cruise set at 70 or 75 a lot) but more spirited the rest of the time; not abusive of the car, but having fun. I always warm up the engine at startup for at least 2 minutes prior to rolling out. If there's anything else specific you want to know, just ask.

BTW, I had no intention of putting this many miles on the oil. I forgot the OCI was getting closer and didn't order my oil until the last minute. Before it arrived, I took a trip to Austin on weekend and to San Antonio the following week that put an extra 1100 miles on it. I intended to change at 8500. But it's good to known that it held up so well. And to think some uninformed noob told me I shouldn't run extended OCI with Eneos 5w30 because it's not a full synthetic.

Only way to really know is TBN, but even if it was low, it wasn't catastrophic =p

Anyone have a report on Royal Purple in their G? I'll be doing one once the time comes but just curious what the folks at Blackstone say about RP.

Free first oil service: I went with my Redline oil & KN filter. Car does seem much quieter at start up.

Looking at the viscosity, it definately didnt break down. I would have loved to see a TBN number because depending on how much additive you had left, you probably could have had a report showing a very good UOA on over 10k miles..... minus the lead. Shoulda kept it in for another 400 miles!

Has anyone done a VOA yet for Eneos to see what the starting numbers were?

Yeah, I forgot the get TBN like a dum-dum. I'm confident with the job it's doing and don't plan to stretch it over 7.5 or 8K. I may go ahead and bite the bulet and pay for one more UOA and get a TBN this time. Send them a virgin and used sample to see how the lab results compares with Eneos' analysis. I think a virgin sample analysis is free with a UOA.

BB are you doing a virgin sample in your next oil change? If so, I can just leave that to you since I only have 1 bottle for my upcoming oil change.

I've just requested for another bottle, hopefully it'll get it soon. Didn't see anything about the virgin sample being free though....will check later. Planning to do a TBN for my driving style as well.
