I don't think VOA's are free.

Danny: I have a whole box of sample cans.

No, I think you end up paying the same $22.50 as you would for a UOA. Then add $10 for TBN. But since the specs Mike posted contained the TBN, probably wouldn't be necessary unless you wanted to check if the company-posted specs were really accurate.

Not $22.50 worth I don't.

I see no one replied to this..... I dont have any personal experience, but I think on my350z there were a few UOA's with RP showing their 30 weight oils sheared down to a 20 weight. So if thats the case, its probably fine for a normal 3750-4000 mile OCI, but maybe not an extended OCI.

And I THINK.... emphasize THINK because I cant find it again, that the flashpoint was lower that Redline and even the Nissan Ester Oil. And I think its also very very thin like the Nissan Ester Oil.

So I'd definately do a search on other forums before you choose it.

If anyone is interested in Schedule 1 oil changes at 3750 miles instead of extended drain intervals, there's probably a lot of suitable choices.

For example, here's a very good VQ37 UOA at ~3100 mile intervals. Regular dino was used in September 2009 report, while Castrol Syntec 5W-30 was used in both 2010 reports:

1. Mobil 1 5w-30 Synthetic with Mobil 1 Filter

2. German Castrol Synthetic 0w-30 with K&N Filter

3. Stick with OEM motor oil until 15k'ish before switching to synthetic as Black betty is - to be cautious and fully let the motor break in and seals set with conventional

Any input guys? BJ?

German Castrol 0W30 is a spectacular oil

Here's a chart showing the VOA viscosities, TBN and add packages of several brand name 5W-30 oils.

Mostly dino except for Citgo Supergard syn blend, whose profile actually looks a lot like Eneos/Castrol Syntec. (Starts off fairly thin but with a high V Index to retain viscosity over a wide temperature range; heavy to medium calcium, phosphorous & zinc, low to medium moly & magnesium, low sulfur).

Looks great Ken. And Im glad you posted that when you did right after Need4Spd's UOA.

So to recap, Need4Spd had Mobil 1 and switched to Ultra and had an increase in lead.

And KLB had Mobil 1 in and had very high wear metals and switched to Ultra and had his metals significantly go down.

Confused?

And somethings weird with your phosphorous count....... they both cant be off by 600 ppm..... thats just too much.

Yeah, that is odd. I know I am sticking with the Ultra for now. Good thing too, since that is what I put in again.

I just want to confirm that no one has sent a batch of LubroMoly in to get tested on a relatively low mileage engine. I just ran through this post and could not find anything. I ran my first oil change and in order to match the recommended factory weight of the oil, I put some of this in there: Products - Longtime High Tech 5 W-30 .

Would be happy to send it in and see what we get out of it. 2nd oil change on this engine after the factory "free" change, where I paid extra and had them put the ester oil in there based on what I read here (thank you to those that posted the recommendations).

All my hard core german car racing buddies run this stuff, so why can't I?

My Nissan Ester oil 5w30 on 3,797 miles

80% highway and 20% city. When in the city, I use the auto shiftronic feature. Thinking about switching to Castrol Syntec. Nissan ester oil UOA results don't look too good. Been using Nissan Ester oil up until now. Thinking about going to Castrol Syntec when I get my oil changed soon.

What do you guys think? I think even with my occasional shifting it shouldn't shorten the lifespan of my engine. I think for $11/quart it's garbage for our cars. It seems like Castrol Syntec and Mobil 1 performs at least 5,000 miles before an oil change is recommended.
