What do you guys think? I think even with my occasional shifting it shouldn't shorten the lifespan of my engine. I think for $11/quart it's garbage for our cars. It seems like Castrol Syntec and Mobil 1 performs at least 5,000 miles before an oil change is recommended.

I def won't be using the overpriced Nissan ester crap. I'll stick with PP which has been getting awesome results for our engine.

Another scientific "paper" showing the same exact thing. Shearing down to a 20 weight oil around 4k miles. Good luck to anyone using this for schedule 2.

Just went to get the oil changed to castrol syntec. No more ester oil junk for $11/quart every 3,750 miles and now castrol syntec every 7,500 miles. Better for engine and costs less. I initially thought it was weird how Nissan all of a sudden has their "own" oil. I understand Mercedes has promoted their own "oil" for a while now but it's rebranded oil. Mercedes and Infiniti don't make oil. It's all marketing garbage. Not to be a pessimist but I firmly think that Ester will only make the engine reliable until the 100K miles warranty. If you have long term plans with your car well beyond 100K miles I would use anything else but Ester.

I am sure Infiniti would love you as a return customer for a new finance purchase after your engine blows up at 101K miles after using ester oil.

Has anyone run an oil analysis report while using the HKS Super Hybrid drop-in filters? Curious to see how their filtration is and if it was showing up in the oil analysis.

You'd see more silicon if the filters let excessive ultra-fine particles in. IIRC, nobody has reported it...

What's the likeihood that I would have an engine failure/malfunction if I continue to use conventional 5w-30? Has anyone run an oil analysis on a vehicle beyond the breakin point (15k+ miles) using conventional? I'm new to the g37 community and was wondering if the noise we hear at startup is damaging the engine or is it just an annoying noise.

With all that i read it seems as though, even if I change to a common synthetic (M1, Castrol Syntec...) I would still have to change the oil around 4-5k before it shears too much. So why couldn't I stick to conventional oil at a 3k oil change? ...just curious

I have about 1800 miles on my car and had the dealer change the oil at 1200. I don't know what they put in, but I'm guessing its conventional oil. I plan to change the oil again at 3000 to get some of the breakin contaminents out. I'll continue with conventional until about 12k when I'll decide if I want to go synthetic.

Running conventional oil on a regular change interval will not hurt your car in any way. You're perfectly fine. However, this thread is specifically for posting and discussion of UOA reports.

If no one has a UOA report on conventional beyond the initial breakin, then I'll post my results once I get to that point. The info on this thread is great, just curious how dino oil stands up to these engines.

Throw it up here, I'm sure folks who don't want to go the synthetic route can benefit from it.

I would like to see the results for 5W-30 conventional oil as well. I can't use anything else until my warranty period ends or else I void my warranty.

Car is still made in Japan by a Japanese company and they're all built the same. A warranty for one is the same for the other.

doesn't matter. These are warranty policies from Corporate Infiniti for the Middle East. It's BS but there's not much you can do.
