Now that you're reposting that pic, I'm reminded of the WTF-is-that? reaction I had when you first did this.
I would have to get back under my car to look, but I don't recall seeing anything like that the last few times it was up on the lift. When I saw that picture, I just shut up thinking it was maybe something different between the VQ35 and the VQ37.
That's a damper? Like how? What kind of material is it? You'd think if it was a solid damper, then it would be rubber... like the shot-glass sized rubber dampers on the OEM exhaust.

It's hidden by the transmission crossmember, so it would be easy to miss.
Could you post a video or audio file that captures the noise? I would like to hear what it sounds like.
True... My G37 has the "dynamic damper'... this is a steel mass connected to some rubber that is designed to vibrate/oscillate 180 degrees out of phase, which cancels the vibration of our large displacement V6.
Does anyone still have the instructions for the Z1 mount? What are the instructions to replace the bushing? Is there a model or dimensions? I can't seem to find a download.
I wonder if there are other durometer bushings available from Energy Suspension that could be swapped in. The Z1 is 90A durometer
- Rebuild able design - In the UNLIKELY event that your Z1 Motorsports 370Z/G37 Urethane Transmission Mounts require servicing and the replacement of the bushing inserts, simply follow the supplied instructions and replace the bushing. The Z1 Motorsports 370Z/G37 Urethane Transmission Mount will be the LAST transmission mount your 370Z will ever need.

Wow.
Well, at least it's an easily reverible mod. Still... Glad I didn't bet on you, Lego. I would've lost that wager. Even worse, I would have given odds, too.
All these people unmodding the transmission mount... I imagine 4DRZ and I looking at each other thinking, WTF? But hey, props to everyone who tried it anyway.

4DRZ tracks his car in a much more regular basis than most people here. I suspect he has a huger tolerance for NVH.
As for you....I suspect it's because you don't drive your car as much. You're at what, like 5k a year?? You mentioned not using your car that often for transporting the family, and IIRC, work from home, so you might be willing to take the extra NVH for the added stiffness.
For those of us that want/need to use our car on a regular basis for families, or have to slog through a daily commute, it's a different balance.

The common theme between you and the others is an immediate appreciation for the NVH, but with a nagging discontent that grows and ends up taking over. I can't explain it, but instead of a growing unease, the NVH just became normal to me. I genuinely like it. I'm probably at the mid-point of ownership with my car now, and there's a real good chance I'll be installing Z1's urethane engine mounts sometime in the next couple of years.

There is no right or wrong. It's just a car.
All true, and a reasonable explanation.

As I get older I am finding that my tolerance for NVH as not nearly as high as it used to be. I think the trans mount NVH also has a lot to do with the exhaust you have. With my Stillen exhaust it was only slightly louder with the trans mount. I honestly cannot tell any difference with the trans mount now. I think if you had stock exhaust and a stock suspension it might feel a little harsh or loud.
I come from the coupe and I think you will be happy. I have both trans and motor mounts in urethane from Z1 as well as whiteline diff bushings and the NVH isn't that apparent to me. I daily my car and it hasn't once bothered me. Everything just feels much tighter and not so sloppy.
