Way less than 1,000. I don't daily drive my G, so I put probably 200 miles on it, tops.

 

I'm not sure who said it first, but someone described the sound as a "cement mixer" and that 's a fitting description. I heard/hear it with the stock tranny mount, but the Z1 put it over the top. The Z-1 essentially increases all of the tranny/engine noise; good and bad.

If you have a loud aftermarket exhaust, and/or HFC's, and/or any engine modifications, I don't think you'll have an issue with the sound from the Z-1. It's those of us who have more mellow setups, that the mount "takes over."

Sound aside, the performance of the mount is AMAZING. I really do miss how solid the shifting was with it.

The mount arrived Wednesday (thanks Liam), now awaiting my Amazon order which includes a durometer. Should be here any day now.

Have everything in hand. Now I have to learn how to use the durometer. I hope I don't have to disassemble the mount so I can get enough rubber exposed to test.

 

I'm interested/curious to see, if anything, what this does for the 7AT. I'm hanging on your every word, 'bart...

 

Well, the durometer was a waste of money. The measurement head is too large to reach the small portion of exposed rubber. I'm not going to take the mount apart as I suspect the rubber in the casement is under compression which should change the stiffness so measuring it would not be indicative of working stiffness.

I'll see if I can contact the manufacturer to get some info.

 

So I just had the Torque Solutions STS installed. Man, what a huge difference in throw length. I knew it would be shorter, but this is crazy. In a good way. It's still pretty stiff, and I suspect that it will be for a little while. I really like the solid and "locked in" feel when it's in each gear as well.

Only downside is the loss in overall shift height. I went with this one because it's cheaper and advertised a 1/4" overall height drop. Yeah, no. More like an 1", maybe more. I've already hit up Chris at LatheWorks about getting an extension like Rochester's, but I'll probably not go as high as that. I'd like the base of the shift **** to be even with the metal ring that goes around the shifter and holds the shift boot in place.

Glad you're liking the new shifter behavior. Someday soon it's going to become the new normal, but not so much that you will stop appreciating how much nicer it is to have that short throw.

I attempted this install myself yesterday and I can't for the life of me get the damn **** off. Smh, going to have to take it somewhere to be installed because I feel that if I continue I will end up damaging something.

 

ChannelLock plyers, but you'll destroy it. I just twisted mine off

I really advise living with the STS before modifying the height. I initially thought it was too high and used a couple washers to raise the height, but removed them and went back to whatever the TWM height is. I have a 370 **** which is marginally larger OE and the height is the new normal
