I told her that a number of you guys from the forum have already had your exhausts replaced. She said that there is no bulletin, and therefore no part # with a "fixed" exhaust. She said at this point, they could order me a new exhaust, but to her knowledge, it would have the same rattle.

Would it be possible for any of you guys who had your exhaust replaced to ask the dealership what part # they ordered so I can have them order that as well.

Cheers!
It was mentioned in the other exhaust post that they are using the same muffler. They will just need to replace it and you will need to hope you get a better made muffler than the last one you got.

I know. It was just confusing because of the other info on post #71 about the "new" muffler.

Call Infiniti Consumer Affairs. A 40K car is not supposed to rattle. That's a load of crap.

muffler and gasket part #'s

Here are the part #'s that were on my invoice after the muffler replacement.

Gasket - Exhaust: 20692-1E810

Muffler Assy Exhaust: 20100 - JL01A

Maybe if you got an "updated" exhaust or muffler it will be something else.

completle new muffler manufactured in 02/08.

If you have an early build, there is a new muffler.

Just had mine done for the 3rd time.

New muffler sounds different, no rattle sound at all.

Mike would you mind checking your part # on your invoice if you still have it and tell us what it is? I just wanted to see if you had the same as me and to check the part # on the new muffler to compare. I posted my part # on post #50. Thanks.

Without a doubt I can get you the part # for

Did they give you any flak about having the HFC's?

Nope. They just noted that I had them. The Service Advisor said that it might be a possibility that the HFCs exacerbated the problem but they didn't give any resistance to replacing the muffler because the muffler issues were so well documented otherwise and I had the issue even prior to getting the HFCs.
