Some of the clips related to this exhaust noise are worse than others. Mine was exactly like th noise I found in this YouTube clip:

YouTube - ‪2008 Infiniti G37 Exhaust/Muffler Buzz on Cold Start‬‏
(noise is at 0:29)

Went to stealership today and they agreed to replace exhaust under warranty. No questions asked.

Now if only getting them to cover the bubbling leather seats was this easy!

a mechanic, good friend of mine said he had a similar problem and replaced his catalytic converter and the rattling disappeared... anyone know how to go about this problem?

thanks
I'm in Canada too and had no problems with them covering it under warranty. Not sure if this goes under powertrain or btb. Either way, warranty follows the car and depends on the in service date. Bring it to the dealership and they'll tell you if it is still under warranty.

Just had the service done...ahhhhhhhh it's like a new car. I didn't realize how bad it was until it was fixed. Here's what my invoice says in terms of what was done (ie for those that need to argue it):

FD60AA Rpl Main Muffler
1 x 20100-JL01C Muffler
1 x 20692-1E810 Gasket
FD 9999 Straight time to remove seized bolts

FC: ZL32
Part #: 20100JL01C

As a side point, the courtesy car I was given was a 2011 G25 -- PIECE OF CRAP! it's basically a fancy Altima. No power.

Took mine into the dealership to have a keyfob programmed, and the passenger window inspected for wind noise. Upon pulling in, the service advisor noticed my car when I started it, and told me of the issue, and that they would be covering that under warranty. Damn good service right there!!...

Supposedly there is a technical service bulletin out for this (or so my dealer told me) and that its not a warranty issue. So even if you're out of warranty, it should be covered.

I got my 2008 G37's muffler replaced last week, no charge, no fuss. Its rattle was pretty bad. The muffler would rattle occasionally when I climbed into the car, and I weigh next to nothing.

lmao late to the party but this reminds me of something from one of my first cars. a 1998 maxima. So I remember when we would replace the stock Y, aftermarket will usually cause a "bees in a can" noise that was very similar to this sound.
