*SOUND CLIP* of the Infamous Muffler Rattle

I took this clip back in Novermber or so, when my first muffler went bad. Wanted to prove to the dealer that the sound was there... good thing he heard it too and i never needed the clip tho, because i don't think you can really hear it all too well in my sound clip.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skGoX1Q08f8

If someone else doesn't post a better clip (i.e Kahboom) then i'll try to get another clip from behind the car, close up to the muffler area (since i now have the issue again)

All in all, i've had this for so long but never bothered to get it off my camera... well now its on youtube since so many of us are having this issue.

Finally, thanks Ahujadaddy. Yeah I can't really hear anything abnormal in your sound clip. If you could get a clip close to the exhausts that would be great or hopefully someone else will post up with the problem. Good first step though.

yeah all of that high pitched clanking should not be there. If you have that noise then eventually you will also hear the "buzzy metal sawing" sound.

There are a number of little baffleds inside of the muffler that can malfunction and make noise.

I know!! It does... i park in a parking garage so the noise is greatly amplified. SO EMBARRASSING!
Esp now that there is a new 335i and IS-F in our garage.

First step indeed, np. The sound is there, just took me till the second time to pick up on it... it's sorta in the background.
U hafta almost look for the noise that... doesn't belong... out of all the other sounds. As if the overall sound should be more "solid"

idk... can't miss it when u hear it in person tho.

Mine sounded the same. Took it to the dealer... apparently there is a known issue with something being broken internally in the muffler. Dealer ordered a new muffler, installed it, and the rattle is gone.

I can start my car in public again without getting the "you better get that checked out" look...

Here's a pretty good sound clip of my rattle!! Hope it helps you all. It's tough to describe. I told the stealership that it's like I am lightly rattling the small aluminum grills inside a small toaster oven. I'm taking it back to the stealership next week. Hopefully it goes away. The car was cold and the rattle starts as soon as I start the engine. You'll really notice it after I hit the gas and the rpm's start decreasing. Pretty much happens all the time, but is less noticeable when the car warms up. I guess eventually it'll break again and I'll have to spend $$ to make my car 7-10 horseys faster on an aftermarket exhaust. It's just so hard to justify spending over a grand on shiny metal that makes your car only minutely faster in hp, but gives it a nice sound. I'll eventually break down after about a year and see more products available.

WAIT!!! I FORGOT THE LINK TO YOUTUBE. YOUTUBE IS STILL PROCESSING THE FILE, GIVE IT A FEW MINUTES!! SORRY FOR ADVANCED POSTING

Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=beNjYlBrO4w
