I agree with you guys on temperature being an issue with the top down with leather seats. When I test drove the M4 Competition convertible it was only 82 degrees and my back was sweaty from the leather not breathing. I would much rather have cloth. I think the 370Z roadster did a good job with their ventilated and A/C seats. In fact, I wonder if those would bolt up to a G37 convertible? Hmmm... If not I might have to invest in seat covers or suede inserts in the front seats. Not a big fan of leather seats. You sweat in them all summer and they are ice cold all winter.

I am not too worried about how often we would have the top down since I usually kept the top off my Gladiator for 2-3 weeks at a time. When I met my wife she had a Miata and always had the top down too. Again, I would much rather have a sedan, but I could see a convertible being fun and the exhaust probably sounds better with the top down.

Maybe things are different in appleton. Here in PRIL, one needs to keep the car locked inside a locked garage. Sometimes even that doesn't prevent breakin/theft.

Miata, huh? Why not get her another Miata? Or how about a Crossfire?

Saw a white Crossfire at the shop a few weeks ago, with a brown leather interior and black interior. Very nice. The Crossfire was a cool little vert.

It's not just the seats. It's the sun beating down on your entire body. Skin cancer is bad.

Pretty sure the 'vert had ventilated seats.

I did consider a Miata, but we would prefer something with a back seat for our 3 year old. I had a co-worker who had a Crossfire (SRT-6?) which was quick because it was a Mercedes under the skin, but that fact alone worries me about reliability. Also it would need to be a stick shift since I will be driving it too- I know, I know looking for unobtanium here.

See- skin cancer is another reason I prefer a sedan.

The 370Z roadster has seats that are a type of mesh cloth in the centers that has a lot of breathability and then also includes an A/C fan that works awesome. The Infiniti convertibles I have seen all have the same heated full leather seats that I had in my sedan. They have little perforations, but no A/C. Maybe it was an option on some of them, but I have yet to see one.

Hmm. Backseats, folding hard-top vert, all-wheel drive, manual transmission...

How about a 2014 - 2018, BMW 435i Cabriolet?

Looks like the non-sport 'verts have ventilated seats https://www.myg37.com/forums/body-in...led-seats.html

I wonder if some cars actually have 'cooled' seats, or if they all use a fan to blow a/c? My wife's A4 has the latter, and it's pretty effective

Word to the wise... the RWD Sport Package on the G37S Vert did *NOT* include VLSD.

Don't know why, but there it is.

It does not need to be AWD, but that would be a plus. Did BMW make a 435i Cab with awd and a manual? That could be an option. I would much rather have an M4 for the performance, but the later 4 series cars are no slouch either and hopefully a lot less expensive. Good idea!

Thanks for the link. It seemed like there was some confusion initially in the thread as to if they exist, but 4 pages and 48 posts in someone actually confirmed them on their car. Unfortunately, they are only on the non-Sport models. Bummer.

Good to know. I seem to remember you mentioning this in another discussion- maybe when we were changing the gearing in our cars? Do any of the G37 verts have VLSD?

I believe so. You should be able to research it easy enough. Good looking car, notwithstanding the silly hockey stick in the fenders.

Nope. G37 Verts are all open diff, regardless of gears or transmission. It's weird.

I am waiting for the day where some old man's Crossfire SRT6 that he only drove to church on Sunday with 18K miles is posted on BAT. You hit the nail on the head, it's just a cool two seater.

Nothing currently in production is enticing to me (as far as touring cars go), I'd probably just lease a fully loaded Defender or Velar...

I did look into 2014-2018 BMW 4 series of any kind, but they all seem to be A/T in that generation. I seem to remember that being a gripe when that body style came out and the 4 series replaced the 3 series for 2 door models. I also looked into 2 series which do come with a M/T in RWD, but I think that car and the 4 series are not terribly sporty (until you get to the M4). Very "Yuppie" type of cars that make me feel like I need to start carrying around a tennis racquet and tying sweaters around my neck en route to the local country club. Not really my thing. I think initially when you mentioned 4 series I was envisioning the previous generation 3 series that had a good turbo motor for tuning.

I think my 2 favorite convertibles right now with a M/T and a back seat are the M4 and G37. Of course my wife likes the M4 a lot better, but it costs 2-3 times as much. I could only see justifying an M4 if I sell my car and start tracking it.

I used to have a friend with a 650i Vert. Cavernous back seats. What a boat.
