I have to wonder though, how long you will be able to resist reliving your track days? Ooooh maybe ill just go do a few laps this one time... Eh, it cant hurt to just go twice a year... screw it, this car is too much fun at the track to stop now

Anyhow, enjoy the new car man! 🍻
Exactly what I am afraid of. This is my 4th relatively fast Subaru over the years, but 310 hp is just not a lot anymore and my "local" track, Road America, has really long straights which are great for high hp cars. USAIR is also close and the perfect track for the Type RA, but they only do autocross and drifting now under new ownership. So as long as they don't open it back up to full course lapping days I think I am safe... for now.

.
So while having my wife's car serviced I chatted a bit with one of the sales people. The dealer actually had both a CTS4-V and CTS5-V both in Blackwing versions on the sales floor. The bad news is they added $12,000 and $15,000 dealer markup to the cars. I wonder with gas over $6.00 a gallon how quickly the 5-V is going to fly off the showroom floor??

At $6.00 per gallon, 12k miles per year, on a car that gets 15 mpg... that's $4800 per year in gas expenditures. I get that the price of gas can trigger an emotional reaction of helplessness for a lot of people, but if it triggers a Blackwing owner, then they're a wealthy idiot.

I definitely should not buying this car as it is out of my budget but I can't let the opportunity slip past me. Now that I am a family man, will there ever be another big performance 6spd manual family sedan? Probably not. Will the car retain 75%+ of its value after 10 years? Most likely.

The gas mileage is what it is. At the end of the day it's inline with a G37 but the fun factor is much higher

I perfectly know what is it but is no way that car would retain 75% of its purchase price

You said its a manual too, that will fetch a higher price from enthusiasts as they are becoming more and more rare as time moves along.

Love the colour btw

Someone on the stinger forum has buyer's remorse towards a 22 gtline (2.5T). They really want the 3.3. I say don't do it. Between trade in loss and mark up on the new, that's a lot of benjamins flushed down toilet. Sure the 3.3 has ~70hp/60 ft lb torque on the 2.5 not to mention more low end. Price of admission much higher (55K+.... for a kia!) and mpg about as good as the G.

Took the dog for walkies and struck up a conversation with a guy pulling up his driveway in a 2006 Pontiac GTO 6MT.

16 year old car, simple and understated. Too understated, LOL. But I still love those cars.

You must not be paying attention to current used car prices. My almost 4 year old car has a trade in value of about what I paid, and a private party value of more than what I paid. The market is nuts. Who knows what the future will hold, especially for a low volume halo car.

They're a beast for sure. Holden knows how to build a car. Wish we got their UTE here - basically a modern El Camino with a big-*** V8.

Saw a newer Genesys G70 3.3 on the drive in today; very sharp looking. Shame the 6-speed ended in 2020 (assuming it was available in the US at all) and only on the 2.0T

Agreed, and if the current situation remains the resale of a well-cared for Blackwing may be very close to a brand new one. There are prime examples of used CTS-V's going for at or above what the Blackwing is right now.
