What vehicle will be a worthy replacement for your sedan when it is time?
Interesting discussion....especially as I've recently been having the same one in my head past few months and almost pulled the trigger on a 2005 911 997.1. Not a great daily and some (ha!) reliability issues.....oh, and price as everyone and their brother seems to want a used Porsche these days. And.....truth be told, I really love my 2012 G37S convertible. Fun, reliable, back seat, hard top vert....performance could be better. (need to chat with you guys about that) I also considered the Jag F-type (no back seat), older BMW M5 (no vert - and I had a 650i vert on a lease a few years back and I couldn't wait to turn it back in. Nice engine, stressful to drive cause price, kind of a piece of crap (felt cheap with rattles and stupid crap breaking) and our cars drive sooooo much better.... and it was a manual trans) My wife had an Audi S4 for awhile - have some regrets getting rid of that one. Great car...but still not as fun to drive as my G. We also had an older Jag XJR for a bit - also nice engine but really a piece of crap and drove like the big, heavy car it is. I can't comment on other cars mentioned as I haven't driven or owned them and obviously these are just my personal opinions and others are welcome to differ - not here to bash BMW or Jag or anything but that was my experience - someone else's may differ, i.e. don't climb all over me. Personally, Mercedes and Lexus just don't interest me enough....and there's the issue of a stick. I know autos are "better" these days but I really like driving a stick shift and that narrows the list considerably. So maybe re-direct me if needed but I am curious about upgrades people have done to their Gs to up the "fun factor." Obviously, supercharger - (no problems down the drivetrain? and bit pricey) Suspension upgrade would be interesting. So, basically, for me at least, currently available cars, there isn't a worthy replacement.
You know, I've never liked the style of the new Supra. It looks ridiculous, at least on-line. I've seen a few on the highway, but until yesterday I never had the chance to slowly walk around ( stalk
) one in a parking lot.
It's still ridiculous, but damn... it's gorgeous too. Freaking beautiful.
How about that? LOL

Been on my short list ever since (just can't get 100% past the BMW DNA)

This one was red and black. It also had a front splitter on little support arms, and a huge (!) wing bolted to the rear.
So when eyeballing the car, I just erased the splitter and spoiler.

Hmmmm....good choice. Agree about the looks, at least from afar. It's just so "frowny" from the back but a bit batmobile vibe (if thats good) and the ones with spoilers just look ridiculous to me. Anyone ever driven one?

This was left on my car buying phone number. Give it a listen, work safe.

^^Not quite legit. These days I barely look at or listen to vm's any more. In fact, my attention span barely lasts 10 seconds listening to.
Turn out a friend left this as a prank. He'd make a great car sales man!
No interest in getting rid of my stinger yet.

I would've lost interest before he finished saying the word "Chevy."
I guess you have to have some levity to break up the monotony. Especially here of late...

It was all in good fun. I asked (before looking at the vm call detail) if he left the message. He denied it every which way. Later I send him a screen shot with HIS number attached to the vm with the caption BUSTED!!.
We've had enough chevy's in this household. A caprice, camaro, some olds cutlases (rwd and fwd), a granprix (early 2000's). One ford product. a early 90's conversion van. What a turd that was with the illdesigned steering. There was one maxima too, but that got totaled less than 24 hrs after purchase.

I got to speak to the guy who drives that Supra I eyeballed a few days ago. The owner is one of the parents in my kid's college field hockey team. He didn't have the car with him at the second game, but we got to talk for a while after my daughter pointed him out to me. Turns out he autocrosses this car quite a bit, and is convinced the huge wing and front splitter helps him with that activity.
His last autocross car was a Toyota 86, but it wasn't giving him the power he wanted, although the go-kart nature of the car was fun. Tells me this is his "46th car" in the last 30 years. Yikes!
Also turns out he was of the same mind when first considering the Supra. Didn't really like the car online, but once he saw it in person he fell in love, and after he drove the car, he pulled out his wallet.
On an unrelated note, I saw my first IONIC 5 on the road yesterday, too. So weird looking, straight from the minds at Minecraft.

Hey Rochester, you wouldn't be trying to subliminally convince me to pull the trigger on one, are you? (not that it would take much at this point...)
(j/k, poking some fun).
If only the damn thing was "Made in Japan" instead of Germany... smh

So you are looking for performance mods? You can always check the "Build Threads" section. Take a gander at the G sedan I built and then decide just how far down the rabbit hole you are willing to go...
I don't notice much, if any, shimmy or shake from the actual car....the folded up roof in the trunk can shift around a bit but its just a noise and doesn't affect handling.....more of a fun reminder, "oh yeah, my roof is in my trunk." It does have a bit more body roll in the corners than I'd like but I'm guessing there's a fix for that.....to the rabbit hole!
