The problem with always looking at cars is that you always find something. Sold the Camaro and picked up a 2009 G8 GXP halfway across the country. 44k miles and a 6spd manual of course (only 846 manuals produced)! I think this bridges the gap between the Camaro and G37 quite well!
At this time it is very likely I will sell the G37 for sale very soon.
Wow! What a great find on that G8 GXP! Always loved that car. I think Pontiac went overly plasticky with the exterior styling on a lot of their cars, but I feel like they dialed things back just enough with the G8 and GTO. But the best thing about that car is the sound... One of my neighbors used to have one and I knew every time he was driving by my house just by the rumble, even with all the windows closed.
And that Camaro looks super clean! too bad you had to get rid of it...

Car looks great, it absolutely boggles my mind that the OEM pad shims are so expensive. They were left on my old pads when I last did my brakes and my brakes squeak all of the time. Thankfully I still have my old pads w/ shims so I will use them the next time I get new pads/rotors.

The OEM shims are excellent quality. When I ran the last set of StopTech/Centric sport pads (prior to the company being ruined by First Brands), my mechanic recommended we use the stock shims and the brakes never squeaked. However, the Internet is full of people complaining about squeaking from the same brake pads.
It's fun to see it online. The real kick is when I see it in person, just randomly driving around or in a parking lot. That's actually happened a few times.

Thanks! In person, the car is a good 10-footer. Up close, the 14 years and 94k miles show as there are plenty of scratches, mostly from the first owner. I bought the car on a rainy day, which hid the defects. First and last time I'll ever do that! But, the upside is I am not afraid to drive it. I do occasionally kick around the idea of getting it re-sprayed.
I didn't realize the value and importance of the OEM shims when I did the brakes last year, and tossed the shims with the pads . I thought the Z1 ceramic pads with the built in rubber-backed shims would be just fine. But so far, they are noisy, espeically when it is cold. I did find that I missed greasing the pad springs where they contact the pads. So, I am hopeful that improves things. I do appreciate how quick and easy pad changes are on this car!

Yessir I do! It was probably that thread that caused me to buy the stickers from @iCrap years ago. They are a cool, yet subtle, inside reference to the G community.

Who designed the myG37 decals that are still on my car. BlackBetty? That guy was intense. I recall never wanting to **** him off. I think he built a grounding package for the G at one point as well.
Paint completed on oem trunk and lip spoilers and window trim. Off to vacation for a week and then will install when I get back. That
should wrap the cosmetic changes.
Note: the window trim always reminds me of samurai sword blades…
It's April and getting warmer more often than not, so I put my Vossens back on the car today.
Technically, my daughter's boyfriend did all the work as I supervised in a lawn chair. But seriously, he was excited to do it, and had fun. We went driving afterwards, and that was fun too. After 14 years the car still gives me so many rewarding moments, I feel very fortunate. Everything about the car inside and out has a story. It's pretty cool.

I resonate with this post as it feels like every time I engage with my car there is an emotion felt that is attached to a story which correlates to the overall journey. I have always become attached to my cars and felt that they were an extension of the family, but the current G feels different and I suspect that's based not only on the investment of resources and thought, but also because I am at a point in my life where nostalgia creates a sense of continuity and meaning that masks certain apprehension associated with age.
Sounds like you have spent alot of quality time in the car with your daughter. In a romanticized way, I am rooting for the boyfriend and hope that perhaps he may be the next owner of the G and they continue to add chapters to the story.

Yep. She joined me for two of the four Forum meetups we had back in the day, and other road trips in the G.
