Ditto. I used an outfit that came to the house and prepped and painted the brakes in my garage.Except for a small portion on the rear of the caliper you need to drill into with flashlights in order to see, you would never know that that the calipers were not removed from the car. The vendor also had a handful of stories and issues they have encountered where users tried to remove, dissassemble, rebuild and powder coat the calipers themselves. Take that with a grain of salt,

And yes, powder coated calipers is a big project, one that I put off for so long that I never thought it would happen... until it did. No regrets.

Haha. Cosmetic stuff is done. I still need to buff and ceramic coat the passenger side of the car. Didn’t get there over the winter and just need an hour to wrap this up. Still trying to get good pictures. Busy. But, I love the overall look. It’s so far removed from what a base G37 looks like that it could easily get mistaken for some unknown sedan.,,

Mechanically I will wrap things up with new plugs and belts and a throttle body service next time I am in for an oil change, And maybe hi flow cats one day.

More worthy pics of the final product.

I’m now officially in the chin spoiler fan club.

^That looks extremely clean, great job!

At some point to complete the look I think you will need to ditch the duck feet. Running a smaller diameter wheel has it's advantages but a nice 19" wheel would really set the car off. You could always do Coupe 19s for reasonable price.

I did a thing. I listed the car for sale and it generated a ton of interest and sold in 2 hours for asking price. My car could have been considered lower mileage but it did have rebuilt title - either way it should give some of you an idea what people are willing to pay for a nice sorted car.

I have some comments to catch up on here and some final thoughts to share but I'll do that when I have some extra time. In summary I will miss the car a ton but it didn't make sense to own 2 "sport sedans" simultaneously.

Thanks! Maybe someday. It seems harder to find coupe 19s these days at first glance. But yes, proper coupe 19s are a good look.

Car looks great. But if you’re parking out in the open in the DMV, I highly recommend you put in:
  • steering wheel lock (good visual deterrent)
  • OBD disable (aftermarket or DIY)
  • killswitch (I think DIY is far better than anything aftermarket here)

The area unfortunately houses some opportunists and your car is a pretty huge target!

Wiped down the engine bay and tried to DIY the paint (came out Ok). Hopefully Gorilla Glue keeps the Mt Fuji on there

I’m waiting on Memorial Day sales to buy my next real upgrades. With some newfound time on my hands, I think I might finally be going coilovers and maybe rear sway bars. And a long tube intakes as more of a vanity project.

Appears that the 6MT helped offset some of the cost delta normally associated with a rebuilt title. Clean and well sorted versions of our cars are becoming more difficult to find. Low-Mid-teens is where I would expect we will stay in the coming years.

Where can one find the killswitch DIY? Or just connect with a shop that does alarms etc?

You can also implement a fuel cut in Ecutek that is software and encrypted key based (ECU is broken without the key). The simple single stage kill switches are easy to defeat as theives can reach the same conveinant areas that you can.

Multistage kill switches are possible, but most do the simple ones. My car stereo guy has one that would be difficult to defeat, but he wanted $500-600 as the work needed to set one up propoerly is labor intensive.

JZ39, please heed StownSaint's advice.

My car was stolen in 2024 and, I just got lucky that I got her back. Fun fact: I read a post and I believe it was here, about g37's and z's being stolen. Of course, I said to myself "damn. This is terrible.but i think I'll be okay."

Well, nope. It happened to me. I was not okay.

Just be careful and stay alert. StownSaint gave you somme great advice. After going through that, I have now taken measures to ensure that it won't happen again.

Stay safe, and continue to enjoy the ride.

Excellent. I would say "let us know what he recommends", but that of course is probably not something you want to advertise.
