Rochester, I bought and used new Centrics to avoid downtime. I kept the original rotors and will have them skimmed and ready for next pad change.

I liked the older Hawks in my Sentra SE-R and Dodge Dakota (what a clumsy vehicle!). I have all of 60 miles on the new pads, haven't bedded them yet. No unusual noise yet.

While you have the OEM rotors in your hands... consider painting the hats silver. I saw a Sport Coupe with the big rotor hats painted like that last year, and it looked so-o-o good. So much better than the common black-hat look.

 

I'd probably go with white. Keeping with my theme of purity. [Snicker!]

 

Pretty comfortable I must say, from Redline Goods. Perforated black Nappa top and smooth black Nappa for the sides.

Trying to see if I want to paint the trim piece black or leave it.

 

That's the first time I've seen that idea, and I think it's brilliant. Totally in keeping with the seat leather.

Definitely going to take note of that.

 

It def goes with the flow of the seats, AND my arm doesn't get all sweaty and hot....

 

No more peeling your stuck elbow off the leather lol.

 

Those turned out very nice. I'm guessing you powder-coated these to match the rest of your suspension/undercarriage? Looking forward to seeing pics of these installed.


I originally used the HPS pads when I switched to the Akebono's on my car back in 2009/2010, but when it came time to change pads a few years back I went with the brand new at the time HPS 5.0. But I was very disappointed with the 5.0's and ended up replacing them a couple months later with a new set of HPS pads. The new pads created WAY more dust and were also very grabby on initial application of the brake pedal... The new pads are supposed to wear better and I understand that some people are ok with grabby brakes but I prefer a more linear and predictable pedal feel so I ended up switching back to the original Hawk HPS pad... There's a reason Hawk still offers the original HPS pads.

I finally caved in and ordered paddle shifters.

 

Well I wouldnt get your hopes up, the lag from them in shifting is brutal and you'll have to end up shifting a good 2 secs prior to when you anticipate it happening. That and they arent accessible in turns

 

So the same as using the hand shifter without having to move your hands much lol. Im aware they're not fast by todays standards, Ive driven a few XS and S models. I still like them The ones in my dads Q50 felt a bit faster than the ones in my friends G, and since I have a Q50 transmission with q50 TCM, maybe it'l have the slightly faster shift times as well, we shall see.

 

I just installed mine a couple weeks ago and I don't have any lag at all while upshifting. My expectations were low and a local tuner told me that he could adjust them with ecutek when I eventually get a tune so I went ahead and purchased a used set and installed them. Maybe I'm the anomaly but they upshift for me instantly and I haven't even had the car tuned. I love them! Hope you have the same luck as myself.

 

DFS who did your tune in Tampa? I have a friend who has known the owner of Ztuner in Bradenton for almost 20 years and I will probably go there. I've only read/heard horror stories about Doug at ZFever so I'm a bit skeptical. I talked to both on the phone and the owner of Ztuner I felt much more comfortable with. Basically he didn't sound like a salesman trying to pitch me to come in and explained why Ecutek is a much better tuner vs what Doug said at ZFever saying that both softwares were exactly the same except Ecutek cost more.
