I have a feeling that Infiniti will go Rouge with their top of the line coupe, ala Eau Rouge. I mean look at the similarity in the side vents on it and the concept car...identical. I like the Q60S as is but have a feeling that they might offer the Eau Rouge or make the concept car be the actual car with the front and rear bumper along with side vents be identical. I would absolutely love that, here's what i would love in an Eau Rouge or Concept Car package aside from the exterior changes i stated above.
460hp (hint Q60)
DCT
Red or Nappa leather quilted stitched seats (that deep burgandy found in BMW's would be nice too)
I could see it costing around 60k (hint Q60)
What would you guys like to see in a possible IPL,Eau Rogue,Concept Car version?
Pricing the 400hp version near $60K would be a big mistake IMHO. Buyers who want a sports car will have cheaper options with better performance. For example, the new Mustang GT will give you more torque and more hp. While the interior isn't as nice as the Q60, it's a big improvement over past years. At around $50K (before options of course) it would be a great buy

If there is an IPL version, which I believe will happen, then it will most likely be 65K-70K. If it has 450hp/400tq or so, then it will be in the AMG, M, F category and all those cars go for 70K-80K+ easily. At that price I would still think it was a good deal for that amount of performance.

I don't think the 400hp version will be near $60k, and I hope I'm not wrong for those who will be purchasing the vehicle. But your example is spot on, which has been the common complaint for awhile now. A Mustang GT's bang for the buck is far superior to a Q60 unless Infiniti prices it accordingly. Here's some numbers: Infiniti sold 21,500 Q60's over the last three YEARS combined, of which a paltry 4,000 were sold in 2015. BMW 3/4 Series, Mustang and Camaro sold over 25,000 vehicles each for the last three MONTHS of 2015. I would hope Infiniti would want to change that somewhat...
Infiniti prices have always been a few thousand less than what Audi, Merc, BMW and Lexus are charging for the equal amount of power, as those are the competitors to the Infiniti.

It's a turbo now so they could increase power much more easily than if it were still naturally aspirated. I hope the Red Sport is not the new IPL. That would be a mistake IMO, if Infiniti truly wants to compete with MB, BMW and Audi they need to take them head on. Only way to do that is with an IPL and it better not only have design elements that are more aggressive but real performance enhancements as well.
I know a lot of Japanese car guys think negatively of German cars because they are not reliable, and they've got a point. So why do they still outsell Japanese cars? Well I've attended quite a few car events where there were mostly German car owners. They too talk about Japanese luxury cars, they think they're slow, boring to drive, and just glorified Toyota's, Nissan's and Honda's. But, you know the one Japanese car that EVERYONE likes? The GT-R, and that's because they respect the car, because it has tons of power, can put that power down, is a blast to drive and has a DCT. If Infiniti wants to be taken seriously, if they want German car owners to make the switch they better stop F'n around and get in the game!
I have to respectfully disagree. Infiniti is an "American brand". Yea, it's made by Nissan...but they created this brand to compete in the American luxury market. In America, we primarily drive automatics! So, I'm with everyone who wishes for a manual transmission, but as BB said from a marketing standpoint we ARE the outliers.
It's a bonus that these cars come with decent power, but keep in mind the G coupe (now Q coupe) has always been a "luxury" sports car. The optimal word here is luxury. If you want a true, pure sports car then get a Nissan Z or a GT-R, but don't complain about the noises because that's what you wanted.
I think Infiniti is doing EXACTLY what they mean to do. This isn't a misstep - it's business.

Where'd you get those numbers? That seems pretty low for 2015 I'm pretty sure that there are at least 3900 Q50's floating around NYC.

That's the problem. A few thousand dollars isn't gonna sway the hardcore BMW, Audi, and Benz fans to jump ship to Infiniti when the performance numbers are the same. Now, if Infiniti keeps the price of the new Q60 within that few thousand dollar difference range, but has much better performance numbers (400hp model), then that might get the attn of the German loyalists. While I think the new Q60 loos great, I don't think it's looks alone are enough to get new buyers. It's going to come down to performance and price. We know the performance will be there (at least on paper), now we just have to wait and see about the price.
As for my reference to the new Mustang...yes, buyers who truly want a luxury sport coupe won't consider the Mustang bc even though it's light years better than the last model, it's still just a brute muscle car and isn't as luxurious. However, the younger crowd that is more concerned about performance than luxury won't go for a $60,000 400hp car when they can get the Mustang with 435hp for around $40,000 well equipped.

I'm having a hard time understanding what you're disagreeing with in relation to my comment. No where in it do I speak of transmissions. I also disagree with your all or nothing point of view regarding "pure" sport car vs "luxury" sports car. It doesn't have to be one or the other. There are many cars that are luxury first, sporty second and the other way around. They offer both luxury and sport, but sway in favor of one more than the other. I could also argue a "pure" sports car isn't a 370z or even a GT-R as they are meant to be driven on the street and are not track only "true" sports cars.
The Q60 should be the car that attracts buyers to Infiniti. The BMW M4 doesn't outsell the 4-Series. It cost more in R&D, takes longer to produce and has lower profits for the business. Same can be said for MB AMG, Audi RS, etc. None of these sporty car lines outsell the standard models, so why are they even made? Because it sells the brand! It brings customers into the showroom, makes them want to be a part of the brand. Since you brought it up; why do these other brands offer MT when >20% of sales are MT? Because it sells the brand and solidifies customer loyalty! Like I said, if Infiniti wants German car owners to make the switch, if they want to attract buyers they need to stop F'n around and get in the game!

And this is what I am afraid of.
If the 400hp version comes with a good transmission and priced close to 435i then we have a winner. But if it is priced close to the "M" well they will have a really hard time. IPL may be different this time but the competetion is fierce.
Yet this q60 is growing on me. When do you think we will see a test drive?
