I am betting that you will see a DCT in year 2 or 3... Infiniti has often made mid-generation enhancements and changes like that... Perhaps there will be an IPL version where it is included
That was my thought too. Wouldn't be surprised if they are working on a DCT for the 2nd/3rd year. Hopefully they can use their experience with the GT-R DCT and put something in the Q60.

Good because i will not be getting one until maybe the 3 gen version. When was the G37 IPL version offered? Was it 2 gen?

I am thinking that the new top of the line 400hp red sport version may be the "IPL" version from the last generation, though it would be interesting to see how they would up the Q60 to the IPL version, as it is pretty awesome as is.
If they do have an IPL version, then it definitely needs to be able to hang with the AMG, M, RS, F, versions of the competition this time around.

It's a turbo now so they could increase power much more easily than if it were still naturally aspirated. I hope the Red Sport is not the new IPL. That would be a mistake IMO, if Infiniti truly wants to compete with MB, BMW and Audi they need to take them head on. Only way to do that is with an IPL and it better not only have design elements that are more aggressive but real performance enhancements as well.
I know a lot of Japanese car guys think negatively of German cars because they are not reliable, and they've got a point. So why do they still outsell Japanese cars? Well I've attended quite a few car events where there were mostly German car owners. They too talk about Japanese luxury cars, they think they're slow, boring to drive, and just glorified Toyota's, Nissan's and Honda's. But, you know the one Japanese car that EVERYONE likes? The GT-R, and that's because they respect the car, because it has tons of power, can put that power down, is a blast to drive and has a DCT. If Infiniti wants to be taken seriously, if they want German car owners to make the switch they better stop F'n around and get in the game!

I have no doubt they the new engine can be easily tuned from the factory to take on the German/Japanese performance lines, however, I wonder if Infiniti will do it! I would love for them and think they should put out a IPL version at 450hp/400tq, which I think would be fairly simple with tune! Whether that happens or not, only Nissan/Infiniti know that!

How far can they take it power and affordability wise and not to step on the GT-R toes in the process? I mean it is now in the VR engine family now.

Competent aftermarket tuners and go-fast parts sellers will BE the IPL version, Nissan/Infiniti won't have to put out there own version. The 3.0 liter TT V6 Z32 is a perfect example of that. Ask me how I know? Likely, the Q60 and the eventual new Z will be no exception. Here's hoping...

Considering that the GT-R has 550hp, 463lb-ft and a DCT, they have lots of room to bump up the power of the Q60. That's the beauty of forced induction, you don't need to do a ton to get more power. The low end VR 3.0L engine outputs 300hp while the high end engine with the same displacement outputs 400hp; that should tell you something.

This!
Certainly 400 hp (assuming the weight is kept down) and competent handling is a great start.
Perhaps not a GTR equivalent but an IPL between M3 and GTR level performance is needed in order to lay the gauntlet down on the Germans in this segment... Or maybe re-designating the GTR to an Infiniti.
Probably best to see how the market responds to this release first however.
Interesting! But if the show room had a 6mt on deck, reviewers would have been all over it.
Would be awesome if a 6mt is in the work. Heck, make it a "special order only" so that way dealers don't have to carry it in stock. This would boost the resale value for the 6mt's since it'll be hard to find.

Could there be that much of a disconnect between the engineers and designers or did he did he accidentally let out information TBA down the line? Hmmmmmmmmm.

Exactly! I am pretty sure this engine could be tuned to probably 600hp. So an IPL could easily do 450hp/450tq and that would be pretty awesome!
I'm betting the engine in that GTR LM1 they used was of the same engine family. You know that fwd le man's car that they cancelled cus it was to difficult to drive.
Everyone keeps saying they want a more aggressive front end. How is this not aggressive enough?
More so than this...
IDK, I think some of you are just splitting hairs. I think you secretly love the car but are trying not to seem to excited! LoL
I think they are just late to the party in regards to front bumpers, Lexus/Audi, etc.
In my opinion it is not very aggressive, hopefully there are some aero options like the M Sport, many Audi S line or RS options, Lexus F Sport option, and so on.
I'm still interested in the 1/4 numbers vs the 435. I am still up in the air with this car, I like the engine & potential tuning but that's nothing new.
I'm trying to figure out where the 400hp version fits in the market. Is the 400hp version supposed to compete with the M4, AMG C63, S5, ATS-V, etc...if so, it seems way under powered, but should be significantly cheaper than those competitors. Or is it meant to compete with the 435i, A5, C class coupe, ATS coupe, etc...if so, it'll have about 100hp more, but also probably cost more as well.
