Stillen V3

It has been a bit of a journey but I finally have my SC Kit installed. I notice that the Air to Water manifold and also the charger tube get very hot... and it is still spring here. Another forum member suggested an upgrade to the intercooler. It does look small and it is off to the side not getting direct airflow from the grill. I am noticing a bit of a dead spot in acceleration that I am hoping to get worked out with tuning. I did remove mt ART pipes and Stillen requested and while I am happy with the dyno numbers, I am disappointed in the quietness of going back to stock cats. Overall happy... it makes great power, just a few small bugs to work out

Glad your journey is over and you are happy , great work. Now welcome the heat soak.. The Stillen heat exchanger is BAD and that's being nice. Being small and attached to the radiator isn't that good of an idea :/ A lot guys use the Frozen Boost one now,. Check it out and replace it You'll be very happy

The Frozen Boost Heat Exchanger seems to work fine for some customers. However, considering 95% + of kits out there have reliably been running the standard heat exchanger, I feel like that statement of "The Stillen heat exchanger is BAD and that's being nice" is a bit extreme. Going with an extremely wide heat exchanger blocks off some of the airflow from the oil cooler so you need to make sure you are running the larger 25 row one we offer. Also, being in Edmonton means you won't see the same kind of heat guys in Texas, California, and Miami (etc) will see.

Wider tires will definitely help.

My car is at Stillen getting supercharged. Dropped it off yesterday morning. I hope I get it back before the weekend so I can enjoy it. I called the tech to check the progress and left him a message this morning but never received a call back yet. Hopefully things are going well. Very anxious for this.

I spoke with Joe and he will be calling you with an update. For updates it is best to call your rep and he can communicate with our Tech's and Service department directly and they are incredibly busy. I look forward to seeing the outcome.

Well... I can't speak for any of the other SC installs out there but I can tell you with I am already experiencing heat soak issue here with temperatures of +10C. In the summer we hit the +30 range (mid 80's F) so I am not looking forward to huge power losses as I am jamming hot air into my engine. Your intercooler is small and I don't like where it is placed as it is not optimal for airflow. After a short drive the manifold is quite hot, and the charger tube is so hot I can barely touch it... and that is at 50F

Overall the Stillen kit has good build quality but I would advise you not beat the Stillen drum too much. I mentioned that it was a journey to get here... Your customer service department wasted a lot of my mechanic's time that I had to pay for so don't get me going on this.

I never meant is wasn't reliable for a few runs, or just stop and go traffic. But anything aggressive and it will heat soak FAST, I went to the track when I had mine made 2 pulls, 85 degrees out and not humid, early June and the 3rd run the car felt like to was pulling a boat. Bad is the idea of attaching it to the radiator. How's it to dissipate heat when its attached to heat? Again this is my first hand experience and others I have spoken to.

Getting the car back from Stillen on Monday With stg 1 SC.

Mods -

Custom headlights (did them myself): gumetal housings and LED Plasma Angel rings.
motordyne catback exhaust.
Swift springs.
35%/5% front/rear tint.
MRR GT5 wheels.

Next: Heavy duty clutch, ARIAS forged pistons, Eagle connecting rods, SC pulley upgrade and tune (If it holds well with forged rods and pistons...not sure if I will yet depending on what shop says).

Cheers.

I have pics of the car before I dropped it off with the lighting work and the wheels and springs if you click my profile. As far as the SC goes.....I'm wondering how big of a difference I'll feel when I drive it......I've never done a mod like this on anything before so ya.....I'm really curious haha.

The tune from Stillen is a baseline tune and is ultra conservative. You will likely want a custom tune after spending all that money as you are leaving a lot of HP on the table. As ANMVQ mentioned you will notice a big difference in the upper RPM. Mine really kicks in at 3700 and pulls hard to redline. I actually start to break traction at around 5K with 255s (Pilot SS) on the back.

My dyno is posted here:
https://www.myg37.com/forums/engine-...t-pipes-2.html

A little disappointing at low RPM due to parasitic losses from the SC, but overall it is a huge bump from NA. I picked up 159 HP at the wheels... and it was not a stock G37.

What are you doing for gauges?

Still undecided on what to do about the gauges. I might just go old school and do a pod next to the drivers side window.

Got the car back this morning. Been driving it around. She put down 414 hp at the wheels and 310 torque at the wheels. The torque curve is basically 300+ torque from 37 to 72 rpm. What I really love about the car is that the daily driveability has not changed. This summer I'm going to upgrade to Heavy duty clutch, ARIAS forged pistons, Eagle forged connecting rods, pulley upgrade on the SC, and up the boost. Hopefully will be pushing 500 whp but we'll see. Overall, very happy with the car for the first day.
