So I get home and decide to check the box of old parts that they gave me. Found this:
I don't know what my emotion is right now, but it's not good. Not sure I'm going to sleep much tonight thinking about whose *** I'm gonna chew out tomorrow morning.

Wow
I'd expect a full refund. And if you let them fix it, I would want to stand there and supervise.
I can't believe they botched the install. It really isn't all that much work, and there's a finite number of simple components. Unless you have a personal connection with this shop, you might want to consider getting your refund and taking it somewhere else.
And if they don't want to do that, suck up the loss and move on.
What's crazy is this shop has been AMAZING for the past 5 years. Fairly priced, guaranteed their work, fast, great communication. Maybe they had a bad day. Doesn't matter, this is unacceptable. I'll be watching like a hawk when the fix this.
Took the **** off to polish it this morning... and IDK why, but this is kind of an interesting picture. The threaded post you see here isn't the STS, it's actually the custom extension that I had LatheWerks create for me. The threaded end of the STS is *inside* the shank of that extension. And when attached, that entire extension would be inside the shift ****. The little titanium ring is exactly where it would be when the **** is secured.
The picture really showcases how low the STS would sit in the boot without the extension. Easily 1" lower.
So glad I pushed myself to make this custom extension happen. Otherwise I'd be just accepting yet another compromise.
And man does that Redline Goods leather boot look good.

So I watched them take everything apart and redo the entire install, with all the parts this time lol. Same exact noise. This sucks.
IDK what this rattle noise is, but maybe it's not the shifter or the shifter components... but a wiring harness that's not secured into place and clicking away against the underside of the center console.
IIRC, a few of those wire bundles have clips to keep them in place.

I left the shop, had to get to work. I called Torque Solutions and he thinks they forgot to install the two bushings that go in between the shifter and the linkage at the bottom. Wouldn't surprise me. Waiting for a call back from the shop.
It doesn't matter if it's under load or not. It's a slight rattle at low RPM, but at 5,000 it's loud and unacceptable. Something has to be wrong with the install. There's just no way a shifter makes that much noise.
Shifter update. Bad news is the shop could not locate and take care of the noise. Good news is they re-installed my OEM ****, and there's no noise. That's a relief. Pretty crazy going from a STS to OEM, the difference is even more noticeable now. Very loose feel and long shifts lol. But I'll take it since it's quiet.
I'm disappointed and not sure what to do. Have another shop try the install? Get the TWM? Leave it as is (my most likely option).
They did throw in the Cusco bar (no charge). I also took out my spare, and the 90 pound JL Audio W7 speaker and box that I had in the trunk. Man what a difference. Car actually feels light. Much better feel through the turns now. Wrong thread though, I suppose...

So... you bought, installed and un-installed the Z1 Transmission Mount. Then you bought, installed and un-installed the STS.
That's nuts.
Sell your Torque Solutions STS, buy the TWM or B&M, and take it to another shop. Get something done, man. You're 0 for 2.
