Video still doesn't work for me

I'm confused to how the Trans mount can make the exhaust sound deeper and louder?

IDK what to tell you... video works for me now. Didn't yesterday. I'll redo it after I get the custom extension for the shifter. I think tomorrow, since it's only going from NJ to NY.

Actually, I didn't learn about Vibra-Technics on a 370z forum; I found out about it right here:

So, back to the mount, I'm starting to have negative thoughts about this constant growl. On the drive home it was all highway with no traffic, and I can see myself getting tired of this constant growl when cruising. I love the sound when accelerating, but at highway speeds, the sound reminds me of exhaust drone. I'm not saying they sound alike, I'm talking more about how the sounds present themselves, as in, constant and always noticeable.

Maybe I should give it some more time.

Does gear matter or is the noise speed related.

This is exactly where I'm at as well.

You guys are funny. Didn't you install the on/off switch? LOL

Personally, I love what this mount brings to the car, and I think it's obvious that I'm very particular about what I do or don't like. As said many different ways, people have different tollerances for NVH... although it is funny that the old guy digs this. Two weeks into this mod now, and its just normal again.

It's probably been discussed, but what exhaust do you have?

Do you have a link to the thread where BB posted that? I haven't found very much info on this mount, besides your feedback.

It's certainly a balance, as there are other positives to the mount, that may be offset for some by the growl.

It didn't really occur to me until the other day that the extra noise is exactly what I experienced on my Subaru with a stiffer transmission mount. At first, I installed rear differential bushings and transmission crossmember bushings and loved it. So then I added a stiffer transmission mount. Lots of growl, and an oh-so-slight increase in vibration. Reviews were mixed, similar to this, as to if the growl was too much.

I have a quiet setup, so in someways, I'm OK with extra noise, as long as it's not obnoxious and I can still shuffle the wife and kids around without objections.

That was easy... search BB and "Hallelujah":

I was in my buddy's Subby STI the other day. My car is becoming more and more like his year over year. We both noticed it. The ride stiffness, the noise, the vibration... much more similar now than it ever used to be. And yet, through all comparisons the G is still the more comfortable car. Interesting commentary about old guys and NVH... my friend is over 60. There will come a day when we both might prefer a Lincoln over our current cars, but not today. Actually, he's planning on a P85d as his next ride... so maybe he's already there.

Lego, I think you'll be fine, particularly with the rubber mount. And if not, removal is just as inexpensive labor as installation, and you simply sell it here at a reasonable discount. No harm, minor loss.

Noise is speed related.

FI RHFC, Tanabe Y Pipe, 2.25" custom midpipe with 22" resonators and Borla Boomer mufflers.

I may be in the minority here, but I think I'd prefer a little more vibration for a little less noise with this mount.

The primary reason I went with a stiffer mount though, was for performance, not an increase in NVH, regardless if it's mostly good NVH. And right now, I can't tell if it's providing better performance than the stock mount.

I'm planning to get a tune within a month, so since the mount is so easy to replace, I might have my tuner do a few pulls with each mount, to see if it's actually transferring more torque to the rear wheels.

Then you're getting noise from the output shaft area or driveshaft. Interesting. Is the insulator at the back end of the transmission?

Yup, it's basically where the transmission meets the driveshaft.

Resonated cats, aftermarket & customer pipes, large in-line resonators and Borla mufflers...

Damn, Liam. That's cool.

I look forward to your dyno results. My prediction is no gain. There is a slight chance the added NVH might be picked up by the knock sensor and pull a few degrees of timing. (sound travels easier/faster in solids)

Our transmission is a little unusual and does not have a typical 2 point mounting system. It only has a single mount. This means the engine mounts are the only part that controls how much the driveline winds up.

I have found a $36 solution to increase the shifter height from ebay:
