UPDATE: Im speaking about orange electronic tpms...this may apply to others.
This reset procedure WILL NOT always work even when following procedures and everything is working.
1/ The tpms must be activated and broadcasting for this to work. Buying them, from amazon at least, they do not come activated.
2/ Orange does not sell the clonable ones to distributers...which is the type you'd need to have anyone except Infiniti program them. Orange sells clonables direct.

I found the cable taped to the ODB2 loom where indicated, but I can't figure out how to get good enough access to cut the tape without risking cutting something I don't want to cut.

I'm a pretty big guy, so getting under the dash is rather difficult. Any advice?

All I did was pull on the wire connector to gain more length. It was bent like a U with tape around it. I didn't even cut the tape.

I get the long beep and time out too. I finally got the light out today. This is how I did it. I used different pressures from the original post. LF 33 RF 30 RR 28 LR 24.5, and I stopped grounding the pin as soon as the flashing started. For me this is 5 taps. I'm not sure if it was the different pressures or 5 taps instead of 6 or more taps that did it, but after trying to get it to work for a week, I'm not going to do it again till next winter when the Blizzaks go on. Thanks Modme for the procedure.

Yes, sitting in the driver's seat left is on your left. Make sure you have a thin wire or very small paper clip in the smaller of the 2 holes. The inside wall of the cigarette lighter jack is a good ground to use.

I couldn`t wait till the weekend and am glad i didn`t.
Like a moron i had the right hand inversed with the left before.
Make sure you substract .5 psi from all the corners if you are doing it with cold tires.

Hello from FX world

Hey folks,

First off, awesome thread! I'm from an Infiniti FX community and found this discussion via google. I've been trying to get this process to work on my FX35 with some luck but have reached an impass.

I can get the system into learning mode but it will not pick up the TPMS sensors in my new wheels. The TPMS icon just keeps blinking until I shut the car off. I am using wheels with known good TPMS sensors.

> I tried multiple tire pressure setups. First as the OP stated. Then with more of a gap between each tire (LF34 RF31 RR28 LR25) I set these when cold as well as when hot.

> I set learning mode in my driveway and drove on neighborhood streets (30-40mph) for 10 minutes. I set learning mode on the side of the highway and drove 65mph for 10 minutes.

Each time, the light just keeps blinking. I don't hear a tone and I have not run into the "blink for 60 secs then solid" problem. The TPMS blinks on/off for 0.5 sec each and will continue to blink forever.

> I tried to get into diagnostic mode but the TPMS just stays lit solid and doesn't blink unless I ground 4 more times to enter learning mode.

If I shut the car off and turn it back on, the TPMS light stays solid from KOEO forward.

Questions:

A) To enter diagnostic mode, what do I do exactly? I have tried KOEO then ground terminal and HOLD grounded. Also tried KOEO then ground terminal once and release. Light stays solid in both cases.

B) Is there any way to tell if I'm actualy in learning mode other than just 0.5 sec on/off blinks?

C) The tire pressures should decrease in value starting at the left front and going around the car clockwise, correct? Left Front then Right Front then Right Rear then Left Rear?

D) What else should I try? I guess the tire pressures could be a problem but my gauge is quite accurate.

Thanks!!

Welcome to the board.
Have you tried driving longer than 10 minutes , i think mine took almost 15 minutes before the sensors were detected.

Have you tried grounding the wire before KOEO? Hold the wire to ground, turn on the car (KOEO), wait like 10 seconds then turn if off again. This should clear out any codes. If it is blinking constantly, that means it is in learning mode. Not sure if FX must use a different tire pressure or not compared to the G. Do you happen to have a Factory Service Manual handy?

This worked. I was able to pull it out of the tape without cutting anything.

I used an old coax cable with one end ripped off. I stuck the center wire into the hole and grounded it to the outer edge of the power socker 5 times right after I started the car. Then I hopped on the highway, and the TMPS light stopped blinking after i went less than 5 miles.

The whole process, including driving back to the tire place to have them properly inflate the tires, took about 15 minutes.

Find the ODB plug (it's hard to miss). Find the bundle of wires that leads it it. The wire you need is taped to that bundle of wires. It's not easy to get under the dash to see up there...

There are pictures back on page 1.
