Will sure do! But since the G is my daily I'm just waiting on one of my close friends to go on leave so I can drive their beaters while I drop the diff and try and make the AT housing work. I found an MT diff off an M/T 370Z in the salvage yard but the seller wants $680 for it! Hope it doesn't go there.

Meanwhile, we installed the short shifter and man! The bushing on the OEM one was worn the **** out. No wonder it felt like a school bus shifter. The Nismo is solid and reduces the travel nicely. Best part is.. no more hitting the center console! WOOT!

Hey Sam,

I am SO curious and inclined that you and your team can make the G37 auto diff work.

Get out that grinder and save $680.

Sounds like you're covering your bases. One more thing for you to look at is where you could possibly get a new differential if needed. Not the whole housing, just the diff. That M/T 370Z for $680 would have one in it but for almost $700 might as well look into upgrading to a Quaife or a OSgiken. We have no reference on how all those overseas G37's are equiped so you may be good to go. But, my guess is that your housing will work fine, the actual differential is the part that worries me. Oh yeah, and the fact that your driveshaft will be relying on the rubber coupler for alignment if you're still using the three fingered flange.

The way I see it, these guys managed to squeeze a turbo'd inline 6 into my engine bay by modifying the factory engine mounts.. a few gears shouldn't be a problem I would assume

True that man, it's sort of hard to imagine without actually taking the diff housing apart when it comes to this. I'll keep you guys posted for sure.

IIRC the speed is read at the left and right side flanges between the axles and diff housing. There is a sensor on each side of the diff as shown below >>

Time for some updates!

I finally fitted the 4.083 gears and wow! Car feels so much lighter! Quicker off the line, car can roll at 4mph without stalling! I made a review thread here to benefit those not following this build too. Other than that, I am done with performance mods for the summer.

Took a pic of the exhaust while it was out. Needs a little polishing eh?

Time to tidy up the interior a little now, here's what just arrived:

Everything looks awesome!!!

I think what everyone is waiting for is an official photo shoot when you are happy with the car (for now of course) along with some official performance specs such as a dyno, 0-60 and 1/4 mile times.

Trust me, so am I. A few local magazines and car sites too. It's just I don't want to waste any more time on the dyno when the turbo I'm currently rocking is sh!tty and will be swapped out soon anyways along with cams. It's also getting really hot here (upwards of 105F) so I'm keeping boost at a minimum for the time being. I'll be taking advantage of summer to focus on cosmetics and trying to get my tacho to work.

At some point do one of your world-famous vids, THIS time with a little shift action from those sporty gears.

Bring back the bug!
