I think you will like it. The shift boot is pretty easy to install too. You just have to make a few quick relief cuts for 4 plastic tabs on the side and maybe punch one extra hole on one end.

Maybe, maybe not. Recall I sent my OE boot back to redline. While I haven't put the revised version back on, it had cuts for the 4 tabs and screw.

The new one should be even easier to install now. I just got a shortened shift boot and it had the extra hole, but I still had to make the relief cuts. No big deal, pretty easy to do.

If I really like it, I'll follow up with the armrest list, then find a local leather shop to install it professionally the way 4DRZ did. His arm-rest came out beautifully with that approach.

I think you made a good choice. I love the perforated leather on mine... looks really good with the seats and my new steering wheel. Can't wait to see it installed.

I agree with the decision to go with color matching thread. I'd do the same thing. Looking forward to seeing this progress.

Thanks, Red. The boot is in shipment from Poland as we type this.

I also have a pair of leather (leatherette?) neck-rest pillows on the way from China. I may or may not be happy with them... we'll see, and I'll offer full disclosure either way. It seemed an inexpensive little experiment.

In other mod news, the wife is still green-lighting my Springtime plans. I expect to be buying 4.083 rear gears in February; Whiteline rear diff bushings in March, and installation in April...

...knock on wood.

Very, very excited about the gear swap.

Very cool. I'm happy to hear that I'm not the only one with an amazing wife. I can't wait to see what you think of the gear swap! I only wish I had an extra gear in my tranny so I could realistically change my rear end ratio, but I'm already running at 3500 rpms at 80 on the freeway.

Neck Rest Pillows - Not going to do it

Package from China today, with two neck pillows, $36 off eBay.

The material is not leather, but the vinyl is perforated, and seemingly well put together. There's an elastic strap on the back of each, sewn into the insides, which means you have to remove the headrests in order to attach them. And there's a zipper in back, with IDK what kind of stuffing. All in all, it looks worth the $36 spent.

Supposedly they are gray, although they sure look tan to me. It's a so-so match for Infiniti Stone Leather. Not at all perfect, but good enough.

Comfort-wise, they're actually quite nice, but under two specific conditions. One, the headrest has to be raised up a couple of notches, which ends up looking awkward. And two, if you're not wearing a winter coat. Given those stipulations, I rather like the way it supports against the back of my neck. However, it's currently winter, so I am wearing a winter coat. With the coat on, the pillows are a hindrance.

And then there's the looks. With regret, I have to say I'm not digging it. I don't think it looks "ricey" per se. Just somewhat downscale. In a nutshell, I believe the seats look better without them. Perhaps a less bulky design would work... I don't know.

I think I'll keep them for a while before deciding what to do. One possibility is to re-sell them here for $20 shipped. Another is to keep them for road trips, because they would be perfect for a road trip. In fact, that makes a whole lot of sense, now that I say it out loud. Toss them in the trunk for road trips.

Anyway, there it is. The good, the bad and the ugly.

Thanks for taking one for the team!!!

Agreed, keep 'em for a summer road trip.

But....somehow knowing you the little that I do, I know you're going to mess around with them until either they're ideal or a total loss. Spring is a loooong way off. LOL.

Meh. Don't know what I could do to mess around with them.

Best I can do is relay my opinions to Redline Goods, since I piqued their interest in making these pillows, and recommend something less in-your-face, with a lower profile and more wedge-shaped to fit between the seat and the headrest.

You're welcome... but it's only the price of pizza & wings for the family. Which, BTW, I'm off to get this very moment.

Rochester, one thing I have learned from this site is that you are almost as much of a perfectionist as me. This means you are never going to keep these pillows simply because they don't match the color of the leather at all. But let me give you another reason to get rid of those things- whiplash.

Your car has active headrests that move forward when you are rear ended to keep your head from moving back and giving you whiplash. In that situation, the pillows will cause your head to move back further and increase the chance of whiplash.

Another thing to consider is that if you have to raise the headrest higher than it is supposed to be, you may also increase your chance of whiplash. Trust me, I had my headrest at the wrong height in a car when I got rear ended and got whiplash. It sucks! Got your back Rochester.😄

That never occurred to me. Didn't cross my mind even once. Wow.

Thanks.

That's a pretty scary mental image. Your neck would bend in all kinds of ways it shouldn't if you got rear ended with those pillows in place.
Noted.
