Here are the remaining four, by name, with the Titanium **** back in.

I think no matter which, I'd want it perforated. That's for sure.

I also have stitching color, and stitching pattern options. For that matter, I could go with 3 or 4 panels.

You know, the boot area is a trapezoid. Technically, it can support a four-panel boot, as long as the corners were in proper dimension.

And if that's the case, I could choose the color for the panels. Imagine a 4-panel design, where the 3 panels were medium gray, but the center panel were light gray, or black, or light blue. Just thinking outside the box here.

Feeling like this needs its own thread, LOL.

Light gray is out, in my mind.

That leaves Black, Charcoal and Medium Gray... perforated, regardless.

And the idea about a single panel contrast... I'm not liking that either. Too much like some kind of superhero costume, and not enough seriousness.

Need to consider thread color, stitching pattern and 3 vs. 4 panels.

That's enough decision making today. I'm down to 3 colors leather, perforated. That's enough for one afternoon.

Don't want to commit yet, but I'm leaning towards charcoal, with a light gray thread.

Happy New Years, guys. Time to go kiss the wifey.

Sorry Rochester, I will go with light gray( i know now its out of your mind) But it will blend well with the seats... IMO. Charcoal with those stitches i would totally go for as well.

My 12 year old and I have discussed these options to death, and not because she's the only one in the family who will talk about this with me (even though she is.) She actually has a good sense of design balance. And although she's about to kill me for weighing too many options, she also loves that Dad is talking to her about this chit. So I bought her some candy at the market today.

Anyway, I'm leaning towards:
  • Charcoal Leather
  • Perforated
  • 4-sections instead of 3
  • Black thread
  • Standard stitch

Reasons:
  • Charcoal best approximates the OEM vinyl boot in shade, while color leans in to the grays, silver and blacks of the surrounding trim.
  • Perforated, because the center seats are perforated, and it just looks better, IMO.
  • 4 sections instead of 3, for no reason other than I want to do something slightly different.
  • Black thread instead of a lighter shade or same, so that you can notice the stitching when you focus on it, but otherwise it blends in to the overall look. An alternative would be same-as charcoal thread. Not sure.
  • The standard stitch is fine. Fancy or double stitches are too much, IMO.

[Update]

Looking at these swatches in the car again, I came to new personal realization: the thread should be color-matched to the leather, exactly the way it is OEM on the boot, and OEM on the sport seat stitching.
  • Charcoal perforated leather
  • Charcoal standard stitching
  • 4-piece construction

I'm going to let that rattle around in my head for a while before ordering, and see if I still feel that way after a few days.

Ordered the new boot this morning: Perforated Charcoal, matching Charcoal thread, standard stitching, 4-panel design.

If I really like it, I'll follow up with the armrest list, then find a local leather shop to install it professionally the way 4DRZ did. His arm-rest came out beautifully with that approach.
