Rochester's new G
Ideally I'd stick w/ the same fronts when the time comes, and those new improved sidewall inserts on the Contis seem to have addressed any of the previous shortcomings they had.
Also being as detail oriented as you are John, having a mixed set just seems out of place in your case, lol.

Rochester, what's your thought process between mixing the 4S with the Continentals?

IDK, really. It was just an idea. Assuming the new Contis have achieved similar performance as the venerable Michelins, it probably doesn't matter. And probably way too much thought about a street tire.As was pointed out, I'm already content with the Contis on the rear, and they aren't even close yet to being broken in. Even Tire Rack recommends 500 miles for that milestone.

+100.
I agree with Brad and would stick with the matching fronts if you can. I sold tires for 8 years and always recommended against mixing tires if you don't have to. Putting a completely different tire with a different tread pattern and potentially very different compound can really throw off the handling balance of your car. This is especially true if you try to put two different tires on the same axle, but also applies if your putting on different tires front and rear (i.e. stickier tire on the front could cause the car to become tail happy and vice versa). In addition, sidewall stiffness and ride vary by tires so you could potentially fee the difference as well. Not everyone may notice this difference, but for car guys like us that sometimes drive our cars the way they are meant to be driven I would stick with a complete matching set.

The old ramps were getting a little bowed, and that was making me nervous. And the 275 rears just didn't fit on the old ramps. Plus, the only way I could get the front end up was to first run the car up on a board.
But now both the front *AND* the rear just runs right up the ramps, no problem.
The ledge is much wider. And a little added height is nice, too. Expensive, sure, but worth it.

John what would you say the clearance is while pulling the front end up on the ramps? Curious since you dont have the oem lip im sure its a none issue. I still have those old ramps myself and no longer use them unless its for the rear as with my oem lip and splitter now, theres a not a chance I make it up without scrapping or doing further damage.

I don't know, except that it wasn't an issue. There's something called the race ramps yardstick test.

P2M Radiator Hose Clamp
Phase2Motortrend wrote to me a little while ago, to let me know their new 1.65" Hose Clamp was going to be available soon, intended for the radiator hose. Their website wasn't configured for it yet, so they very kindly gave me a paypal account for the $8 it costs, and shipped me one.
Haven't put it on the car yet. Had to take a macro shot on my dining room table first
LOL
