I am currently in the process of liquidating a specific recently acquired toy (one that has a trigger and goes boom every time you yanked on it) so I can pick up some tires and these Tein Basis. Look forward to your review.
Also my 2 pennies is just install all four at once. You may get very strange handling with the combo you have in mind.

That's a very distinct possibility. But that's also part of the fun (and freak-out) of playing with the car.

The delivery schedule is next Monday, then install two weeks after.

What type did you get and what did they run you out the door? I have been juggling between CO's and springs and CO's was definitely my top pick from the begining but from most of the threads I read, people said CO's are only worth it if you do shows. So I leaned toward springs figuring it would be static and cost effective. Now that I've seen your post I'm back to CO's. Definitely let us know how it works out after you install. Ride quality etc. Also is your car under warranty? I notice you mention you bring it to the dealer for installs. Not sure if it was just a preference...

Tein Basis, for like the 3rd time. And no, I'm no longer under warranty. And no, I don't go to the dealership for installs. They originally offered to do the Camber Arms, but I cancelled and then they said "no" after I explained there was customization involved. And absolutely I'll write something about the mod -- the forum is actually part of the hobby.

And no I won't disclose the vendor price.

Wicked, when forum vendors don't advertise current pricing, then you need to respect that model. What I can say is that Charles quoted me the best price I could find, with a 2-business day turn-around. Plus, I had bought from him before, with an equally good experience.

You can also replace your stock shocks with aftermarket. Koni Yellows have adjustable dampening, but not adjustable height.

Decide what's important, adjustable dampers, or height. You're not going to get both unless you step up to KWV3s.

I got my konis from Charles at B2autodesigns, best price by far.

Yes and no.

I sold the car to a friend who installed Tein Super-Sports that he purchased used from another buddy. The handling gains with those Super Sports were incredible. And I already had that car buttoned down every possible way. It was an amazing thing, and I was kicking myself for never going down that mod path.

Consequently, CO's have always been on my mod list for the G37. Just not for a few years yet. That's another reason why I went with the Basis, and not the higher-end KWv3.

Looking forward to see what you have to say about the Basis. You sold me on RJM, let's see if we can do suspension!

You never know, by this time next year he might be slapping some turbos on! The most famous words are always "I'm just going to get wheels and drop springs" - it's like the gateway drug.

Michelin PSS - Tire Check

I bought this little tread-depth gauge through Amazon a few months ago, then promptly forgot about it after it arrived. Today I had my front rims off the car, searching for the cause of a slow-leak. Other than the discovered puncture dead center causing the air leak , the tires look great, without any uneven wear. That's cool. Anyway, with the wheels loose, I dug around and found the gauge.
  • PSS (in 245/40ZR19 size) have an out-of-the-box tread depth of 10/32".
  • After <2 summers and <6000, both my fronts now have 7/32".

I think I should be happy with that.

Thanks for the response. Sorry if the questions were repetitive. These forums tend to get too long so I just skim through and dont read all the info.

No problem. Charles at B2Auto is at the top of my vendor list these days.

Tein Basis - Shipped

These arrived yesterday, scheduled for installation on August 17th. And like I discussed, I'm only targeting the rears this summer (along with the rear camber arms.)

Packaging by Tein out of Japan was absolutely the worst. I've never before received anything in shipment that was this sloppy and loose. Fortunately, these are pretty stout items, and nothing seems amiss.
