Seems money is the deciding factor here. Although I think the maxima is the inferior car, I'd go with it given it has 45K less miles. While both engines are relatively bullet proof, lower miles is always preferred.
That aside, when I was shopping (new), we barely got 1/2 mile from the nissan dealership before the test drive was over. The fwd, driving dynamic of the maxima just wasn't what I wanted.

It depends on how it was cared for. Does a Carfax show regular oil changes, etc.? Also, this model year can suffer from an internal oil leak that results in low oil pressure.

As long as the Maxima doesn't have that horrible CVT. They haven't perfected it yet. The G has a nice 7 speed auto. Even if it's one with the 5, I'd trust it more than the CVT.

Save the money or take out a small loan. There are a lot more options at much lower mileage if you extend your budget to $20k-25k.
But if you must buy a car, get the G37 if you're planning to use the rwd, Maxima for practicality/comfort.

If it's any prize I got my 2009 g37x coupe fully loaded with 41k miles for 16k, so if you can finance the other portion you could get a great deal.
