This is the block heater?

Hey folks,

I own a Canadian G37s.

Was wondering if this is the infamous chord for the block heater plug that comes with our cars.

Looked around the forum but no one seems to have a definitive picture of it.

Can anyone confirm?

Yep. It's the only electrical plug under the hood.

I must confess, when I first saw this thread I thought it was a joke.

I never knew that in places where it is that cold, you actually have a factory installed plug in engine heater.

I have seen/heard of engine heaters for super cold weather, but I never knew cars had built in heaters that plug into the wall. You learn something new every day.

It's an option in cold weather areas. Any G37 can be equipped that way. I'm not sure if it can be added as a dealer option or if must be equipped that way from the factory. I'm sure some of our Canadian friends know more about it than I do.

Can be added at any time, there's a plug on the side of the engine that it goes into. They're generally added after the car is delivered to the dealership by staff there rather than the factory.
