Like 4DRZ, I've become very attached to my car and am not in a hurry to move on...but the ATS-V definitely speaks to me. Like the G, it checks all the boxes while being capable of more horsepower than one would ever need. The M3 does the same but I see one at least once a week while I've only seen a handful of V cars; let alone the ATS. The M3 I'll acknowledge but I'll stare at a V car.

Except for a few car meets over the years, I've never seen a car like mine.

Granted, it's very, very similar to 4DRZ's car, but that's on online thing. In the real world, my car is unique.

The M3, on the other hand, that's relatively common. Awesome, sure, but not unique.

Do you stare at the ATS-V because it is rare or because you like the looks better than the M3?

Maybe that's why I am looking at rare colors in the M3, although they are not that common near me. What is common is the G37 sedan. Given, there are not many with a 6 spd, but you do see A LOT of them driving around. It seems strange to me that the G37 sedan was tough to find in white when I was looking, but now it seems like all the M3's I see on the used car market are white.

Our cars are similar? I mean they are both white and we both have the RJM pedal assembly, rear gears, and rear Tein basis springs(?).

Pretty much. I think it's your street-tune that sets it apart.

Then again, I have the uber-rare Infiniti Skyline, and you had a front-end collision with a roll of electrical tape.

But yes, G Sedans are a dime a dozen, which is why the devil is in the details.

This might be what it is. There's no doubt that the M3 is a flashy car and a respectable machine but everyone I see is bone stock. Granted, the G37 is popular but a modified G37 sticks out from the crowd.

Like above, I see them more frequently than I do the V. Looks are subjective and I personally don't care for the M design since the E90. The Caddy, on the other hand, just has an appeal about it I can't explain. Some people might hate it but it just does it for me. I really liked the CTS-V and the relationship it shared with the Vette since the first gen. Probably what made me gravitate towards the G. I've always wanted a manual CTS-V but with the newest gen going AT only, the ATS seems to be a track oriented sleeper which is appealing to me.

Well, that's a bit harsh. You may want to read through my build thread again if you think our cars are that similar. You have definitely done more for appearance, like your bright orange engine cover and mismatched badges. I have spent the majority of my funds on performance.

True, most M3's look stock as there is not a lot that you need to upgrade. I also think that might be due to most people spending that much on a car are not like those of us who like to get our hands dirty and upgrade a car. If I did get one, it would not remain stock, but there is not a lot I would change with the appearance. I like the fact that BMW widened the rear fenders on the sedan, but not the coupe. It looks mean from just about every angle. I think I also like the exterior styling better than the ATS-V because it is more rounded and that seems to hold up better over time. Just look at any rounded styled 60's sports car compared to the boxy ones from the 80's.

OMG that was easy.

At the end of the day we have the identical sport sedan with nearly identical bolt-on mods. You're tuned... whoopdidoo and good for you. But no one is boosted, and the engines are virgins from the day they were assembled.

4DRZ, your car is awesome, and you're impressively dialed into your hobby. Relax your bones, son.

Rochester you crack me up. You really think the engine is the only thing that determines performance? Well if that's the case, then my tune, intake plenum, long tube intakes, high flow grille, headers, pulley, radiator, and oil cooler must not do anything. Your fishing trip just ended. Now let's get back on the topic of replacement vehicles.

You mentioned the CT6 earlier. I read today that they are still going to make a CT6-V until the plant closes and it has a twin turbo V8 with 550 hp & 627 lb ft!!! Too bad it will be A/T, but R&T claimed earlier this year that it will be AWD. Is this the replacement for the CTS or the ATS?

I was skeptical at first too, but it actually flows so much more air that I had to get filter covers because they would get quite wet in light rain. With the stock grille, the filters stayed dry in a down pour.

Well, that looks pretty serious! Just curious, how much do tires like that weigh? What kind of Jeep are you getting? I was just reading about the new Jeep Gladiator pick up today. Sounds pretty cool, but I still like the look of the Wrangler better.

Is a great episode, "So look who missed the earlybird, and driving that new Cadillac!" lol

The Jeep is the new Wrangler JL, completely new design from the ground up vs. the JK. If you haven't driven't a new JL it's quite amazing the transformation from previous models.
Ours is a 2 door Sport w/ Hardtop, S pkg. in Sting Gray paint. There's way too many add-ons you can do to these things, hence the main reason I haven't been around here too much.
But it's fun and will be pretty much a 180 from the G (and still keeping that BTW).

It's flowing more rain, I'll grant you that.

Water has always been a bugaboo in my loose plans to ditch the R2C intake for a long-tube design. Are you saying you had no issues with the OEM grille? We're you checking the filters after driving in the rain? I'll have to make note of that.

740i to a G37 to a Jeep. You're tastes are eclectic, Newt. One of my best friends went from a Suburban, to a Mini, to a STi, to a Tesla. Honestly, I think you and my buddy got it right changing things up. I very much want my next car to be something other than a sedan.

Bahaha! That was a good Seinfeld episode. There are so many good ones.

You will have to post up some pics of the new Jeep when you get it. I always think it would be cool to have a Jeep and then realize that I have nowhere to drive it to it's potential. It would still be fun in that one or two big snow storms we get a year.
