Thanks, going to look even better with the bumper I finished today.
On an honest scale 1-10 how hard are the headlights hex? Love the simplicity you went with as well. Switchback halos and black housings enough said.
Love how the bumper came out, I wonder if not having venting on the fog area will change anything (not anything marginal). Does the ICC sit right up in there or it is more recessed in?

1-10, on a personal scale based on the difficulty of stuff I take on, I would say going the extra mile and cleaning out all the old glue and resealing with new glue made the overall job around a 6. If I used the old glue to reseal, maybe a 4. It's not so much difficult as it is tedious and time consuming. Wiring was pretty simple, but I'm not exactly new to wiring. Hacking the fusebox was interesting to bypass the Canadian always on DRL system.
As for the bumper, the OEM fog light vents are fake, there's just a hole for the foglight behind them. I was contemplating deleting the fogs and making brake cooling ducts, but I haven't tracked this car in a year, and even then didn't have brake issues, was limited by oil and transmission cooling, so yeah, went with pretty lights instead lol.
The ACC is recessed and it's not parallel to the hole opening. The OEM grille has a little shelf box thing leading up to the sensor. So I'll have to build that little insert once the bumper is on. I made the hole intentionally larger in height because the OEM placement is in the lower half and I didn't like the asymmetrical look. Image of actual necessary hole size for reference before I made the proper grille.
Disclaimer lol, my difficulty rating may be a bit low because I'm used to this kind of stuff. I may be a designer, but I come from a family of engineers, and I have a light background in applied robotics, so for someone who isn't comfortable tinkering with this stuff, I can see it being more difficult. I guess what I'm trying to say is don't make headlights your first project if you don't feel comfortable breaking open $1000 lights with a chance of ruining them.
Completely understand, I am more just worried about wiring than anything else. The price I am getting quoted I may as well just buy some depot headlights and mod them myself. Multiple people I’ve talked to have said the same thing that it is just tedious which is fine for that end result. Can’t wait to see the whole new front end hex all finished.

Yeah, the wiring isnt complicated if you can visualize it, or just draw it. Basically add splitters to your turn signal bulb. Or do it the no-no way and use the provided vampire clips. Here's a shot of my connection, and some assembled pics. Still not done, emblem needs to move down, still building the box for the ACC, but almost there. (I have a set of wires split off to go to the drl in the lower bumper, those will be switchbacks too, so same 3 wires)(white wire is taped off. It's a low power wire to dim the halos when high beams are on, but I chose not to use it as it caused weirdness with the turn signal bulb switchback.)
oops, sorry John, Iaccidentally pressed edit instead of reply.... Yeah, that's why I mentioned I'm tweaking it tomorrow. It's a mechanical bond, not a chemical one, easy fix. I slapped it on there just to have it attached, but I was looking from above.... On the car it's off.
To save the doublepost, editing. She is all buttoned up. Needs sport lip...
Put on the carbon fiber mirror caps, vinyl wrapped the chrome trip. Washed, claybared, cut, polished, ceramic coated. Really came to life. Can actually see the headlights now lol.
Yup, real CF. Rolled the dice on a random AliExpress store. Surprisingly fittment is spot on, although they did take 6 months to arrive

I really need to do mine. I'm confident I can polish them, but I'm not sure what to coat them with to prevent them from yellowing again.
I used the same ceramic coating yes, but normally I use paint protection film. It's the best way to go. You can also use UV resistant clearcoat, but that may orangepeel.
FWIW, Tire Rack has Hotchkis bars back in stock at $352. For me, free shipping and tax worked out to $$375. I like to support Z1 (409+ shipping) when I can, but I've been a tire rack customer for 21 years now so...
I Pulled the trigger on a set of Fast Intentions Resonated high flow
You will really like them. Mine weren't new (bought from member on here), but i also didn't want to drop the coin on new ones. Have fun with the demon bolts
