Officer safety. They want to be able to see if you're reaching as they approach the vehicle. I have 20% all around and roll down all the windows during any type of stop to avoid a repair ticket. Also, keep the sun roof visor open to allow more natural light into the car. Seems to help.
I have ceramic tint and compared to the standard tint, it actually looks a bit lighter if you compare them. 20% looks more like 30% at certain angles on my car; where the standard stuff looks really dark at the same percentage and angles.
As a note, if you get pulled over: radio off, roll both front windows down. Turn on interior light. Put wallet on dash and have the registration/insurance out before he gets up to your window. Lots of cops get hurt in 'simple' traffic stops to anything you can do to put their mind at ease will help you as well. I've had all my cars tinted too dark for the states I've lived in, and never had an issue with it. Also, I usually concealed carry for work so I definitely do NOT want to reach for my hip pocket (wallet) or the glove box (where a ton of people keep their guns). Again, never had a problem, and usually get just a warning. You'd be amazed how many people keep their tinted windows up until the officer knocks and have the interior lights turned off. Can't see what's going on inside - officer writes your ticket with his left hand as his right stays on the butt of his gun.
For obligatory G37 content, apparently 2.25" RHFCs from FI are a thing. Z1 called to ask if I wanted those to match the 2.25 exhaust I had ordered through them.
My FI cats have a 2.25" connection, mated to a 2.5" catback. This is because I bought and installed the cats a year before the catback. But the flanges and holes in the flanges match, so its all good.
Finally did my Akebono conversion today. Z1 rotors, StopTech Pads and StopTech SS lines up front. Feels really great as compared to the base brakes.
What did you guys who did the conversion do for the dust shields? for the front i bent the lip flat and for the rear I ended up cutting the lip off completely.
Finally got some free time to get a few more things checked off my list. Cleaned throttle bodies and changed the tranny fluid changed both were over due and wow made a huge difference! I also added some 15mm spacers and painted my grill. Next up sway bars and exhaust!!

Wait, is that what that thing is in his trunk? Is that an OEM unit?
Yes that's a factory 6 disk changer. My 07 had it and I assume it must have been an option until the 2010 facelift.
It just unbolts... and then I got the top carpet panel of a non-tech car and put that on. I've really got no idea what the hell they were thinking putting that there.
