Leak, burning, or wasn't filled properly? Do you do your own OC? Any oil build-up on the block, around the VC's? Spots on the floor?

Looks like burning. I do my own oil changes and when I did it the oil level was in the middle. I used mobil one extended performance this time rather than regular M1. I'm still within tolerances but this does bat an eye. I'm close to the 5k mark so I'm about to change it anyway. Might think about sending this batch of oil off to the lab for analysis. I know these engines tend to burn a little oil and I drive the car pretty hard so I'm not too concerned, but I definitely will be keeping a closer eye on it going forward.

Question, I have a opened (sealed with cap) 5 month leftover oil quart. Is it ok to use it to top off the oil before I change it or just wait it out?

Oil isn't going to break down just sitting in an closed quart container. Dump it in. 5K on synthetic? Sheesh, I go 7K between OCI. Hmm. My last car ('03 Maxima 6MT) used to burn a half quart of oil every 3500 miles. It got away from me once, and started knocking because it was so low. That's not a good feeling when that happens. I suspect you're going to be watching oil level pretty closely for a while.

I relate on an unrelated topic... my TPMS went off yesterday, and both front tires were at 27/28 PSI. Pushed them back up to 33, light went out, but it still concerns me. Rears were perfect, but the fronts were both low. I have a really bad feeling about these shorty TPMS Sensors, particularly when the valve on one of them failed twice last year, eventually getting replaced.

If it becomes a problem, I'm tempted to run w/o TPMS because of the adapters, and just use shorty stems and deal with the TPMS dash light.

Yeah, I change my synthetic oil between 5 and 6k, depending on how hard I drove it or how lazy I am that weekend.

Funny you mention this because I had my tpms light come on and my driver side rear tire was at 25 psi (I usually run 32). I filled it back up and it's been a week with no loss of pressure. Strange but as long as it stays put, no fks.

Another unrelated note, how much water are you guys seeing dripping from under your car when the AC is running? Mine puddles up after only 2 minutes.

Sounds pretty normal, at least in the hot desert climate.

Good thing you checked and saw it was low before something bad happened. I'm pretty ritualistic about checking my oil every Saturday morning. I generally burn through 1/2 a quart every 3750/miles.

I'm not far from you and can't believe how hot it's been and how early this heat spell hit. We usually don't see these kinds of temps till around August. I hate running my AC...

Nice of you, Nish. I'll keep that in mind. Right now, however, it's just an option that I'm considering. I won't act on it unless one of my adapter valves fail again.

Feels like a VQ thing. Some eat oil, some don't. My Maxima did, but my G doesn't, and your G does. Weird.

It was a pretty common complaint on the Org years ago, cars eating a full quart of oil every 3500 miles.

That's awful. I would hate that. Tomorrow it's supposed to be sunny with temp in the 80's. I'm planning on putting the car in the sun all day long and treating the seats with Leatherique.

It is awful. But the flip side is a lack of snow and daytime averages in the mid 40s during the winter.

True. I could go for a little more snow though. I just don't want to be driving out in it. We're not equipped for clearing roads of snow so it's a pure disaster.

I love the fall in the Carolina's. My favorite time of the year...
