want doors to unlock when shifted into park

I hate having to always unlock the doors manually just to open the door when I put the car in park. Is this something that can be changed in the computer or something at the dealer? I tried searching but got a bunch of posts about wanting the doors to unlock when approaching the vehicle. I just want them to unlock when the shifter goes into park. Thanks

I'm 99% sure that this is not something a simple ECU program can do. You'd have to get into the wiring harness and somehow make a relay that activates the locks when you park.

Only unlock with ignition.

Automatic Door Locks
■ All doors lock automatically when the vehicle speed reaches 15 MPH (24 km/h).
■ All doors unlock automatically when the ignition switch is placed in the OFF position.
The automatic unlock function can be deactivated or activated. To deactivate or activate the automatic door unlock system, perform the following procedure:
1 Close all doors.
2 Place the ignition switch in the ON position.
3 Within 20 seconds of performing Step 2, push
and hold the power door lock switch to the position (UNLOCK) for more than 5 seconds.
4 When activated, the hazard indicator will flash twice. When deactivated, the hazard indicator will flash once.
5 The ignition switch must be placed in the OFF and ON position again between each setting change.
When the automatic door unlock system is deactivated, the doors do not unlock when the ignition switch is placed in the OFF position. To unlock the door manually, use the inside lock **** or the power door lock switch (driver’s or front passenger’s side).

Wow tvpost had no clue that could be activated. Just thought it wasn't available for some reason on mine being that it's an 08. Great to know, I'm going to try this as soon as I get out of work.

This is the default behavior, no?

This hits on one of my feature disappointments...my 2000 Audi had auto lock but at ANY TIME you could pull twice on the door lever(as in opening the door) and the door would unlock without having to use the lock **** to GTFO of the car :/

So anyway....great writeup and directions by TVPS ...is there directions to Opt Out of the AutoLock at 15mph? Or shift to drive? Thus eliminating the need to claw your way out of a locked door just as the original poster asks for ?

Realized by searching the forum that this is for 09 and up. This only works for 08's with the module from kp technologies. Just an FYI for the guys with 08's. But I did find that BB had a method turning the ignition on and pressing the lock button three times within 6 seconds to have the car auto lock after six seconds and it was suppose to be for 08's without any module but that is not working for me either... Idk but I will continue trying.

My previous car, an '08 honda civic, had the option of either unlocking when you shift to park OR when the ignition was turned off. You could switch it to either by doing a series of key turns and lock button presses. Why a car that is 3 years newer and cost three times as much lacks this feature is beyond me. Pisses me off every single time a passenger attempts to leave my car but they can't because I haven't pushed the unlock button for them yet.

By design the KPtechnologies DL20 auto lock module is also an ignition based system. There is a speed switch to make it speed activated but to get it to unlock when the transmission is placed in Park would take a creative installation. I'm pretty sure there is a (-) P/NP wire going to the ECU. That signal could be used to control the ignition input on the door lock module so that the module "thinks" the ignition is shut off each time the car is placed in Park. I've never heard of anyone actually doing it, but it should be possible.
