G37 7speed transmission reprogram
I had mine done a year ago or more and it really helped. It's still a little goofy sometimes but not as bad as you make yours out to be.
Have you had anyone else drive your car, to get their opinion?
Curious, have you had the update applied? You may have mentioned this in a prior thread, sorry.

Last time it was in they said it was up to date. So maybe a new one is in? Idk.
I beat the hell out of my G and it still shifts like crap, it just shifts like COMPLETE **** when I try to pansy it.
I actually called the service manager today and left him a voicemail asking if there is any other updates, if they can do a hard reset, replace the transmission, WHATEVER because i'v had it up to here with this hunk of ****. I have never experienced anything as aggravating as this 7AT. I told him I am about at the point that I want to drop it off at the dealer and say don't even call me until it is better because I literally cannot do this anymore. The only time my transmission shifts even remotely normal is when I have my little trailer behind the car with my motorcycle on it. Then it shifts smooth and doesn't flair or hunt because it seems like with the tiny bit of weight behind it it takes out some unsprung slack or something. It just shifts much better while towing.

Doesnt seem like there are too many that have gone wrong (even though a thread on this forum says otherwise) there is always the chance of something physically wrong with it.
Mine frustrates me, but unless I have a whole lot more patience than you do (HINT: almost impossible for me to have more patience than anyone else on this planet!), yours is an exception and not the rule.
Just drove mine today to work and did a little granny type driving and a little "kick it in the pants" driving and the car responded fairly well. Does it downshift as fast as I would like when in D? No. In DS? A little better. Paddles? As instant a shift as Ive ever had on a torque-converter-based automatic.
Oh they go BAD....my 2011 blew up with smoke 22k miles
Im wondering if you actually have a BAD transmission.

Had it done today finally. I think there is definitely an improvement. I had a Q50 for a lonaner, and got to essentially take it on an extensive test drive. The Q50 definitely shifted better. I think it was still a little better than my G37 after the reflash.
(Aside: Definitely can't see me getting a Q50. Will have to see if the new S's steering is better. It was pretty bad. Felt like driving a Camry. It was a non-nav, so I am not sure how downgraded the infotainment was, but I was not all that impressed with it. The apps were kind of lame. I set the drive mode in sport and left it there. It 100% absolutely is less dynamic than a G37S, even though it costs a lot more. Seats were nice, I guess, and the trim was nice. The trunk looked like it was a touch smaller somehow. Hated the raised cowl line (man, I miss the old Japanese low cowl cars).
Edit: One more thing. This may be my imagination, but they did an ECU update, too. I think the automatic AC works better now. I had noticed that you could leave the climate control on 72 and not freeze in the Q50. After my service I actually got warm with it on 76. (For the record, I am cold blooded. If I could stay married, I would set the thermostat at the house on 68. I used to just turn it all the way to the bottom when I lived in a small apartment when I was single, lol. In our Acura I set the climate control at about 70 most of the time.)

After getting the updates, I haven't had any of the original major problems.
I believe our 7AT's ECU adjusts the transmission to our driving style as it learns from it, do they not? I've noticed that after switching consistently between slow and faster driving styles, it seems to get indecisive. Now I believe disconnecting our battery resets the ECU. I recently had done this while a friend did some work on it, and afterwards I was shocked, but i swear that the transmission felt smooth and alive again. But I can already say that it's slowly returning to it's indecisiveness.
I'll have to try it a couple more times to know if it does the trick for sure. If so, It's kind of annoying that those of us who don't have a consistent driving style would have to constantly be resetting our ECU's to get what we want. I'd also be interested to know if getting a tune overrides our 7AT's feature to adapt the transmission to us or not.

That's like mine. I installed the paddles and like having them there. I can't always trust the tranny to be in the right gear all the time, but I know I can pull that right paddle anytime and be where I want to be. Most of the time I don't have to downshift, the car does fine on it's own.
I unplugged the battery and just left it for about 12 hours. Car felt better, but i can just envision it coming back. It still flaires and kinda doesn't shift smooth so who knows. Im going to talk to the dealer this week and see if there is anything they can do. I am just so fed up with this car and trying to make it livable.

Unless you put ungodly miles on your car, you should have more warranty left. Power train is 6 years.
