G37 7speed transmission reprogram
I'm going to get this done on my 09 xS. I've noticed the shift lag when accelerating after coasting but now it also started to harshly down shift when coasting to a stop. I think it has come to my attention more now with the new exhaust how it up-revs (500-700rpm approximately) when down shifting from 2nd to 1st gear. Hopefully this ECM/TCM reprogram fixes or at least reduces the issue
Don't forget the original advise I received when I was a regular participant with frequent posts about the 7AT.....Drive your car in DS mode for a week or more. Drive it hard and aggressive. Then see if she reacts a little differently. It seem to work to some extent. I'm in a 2013 M37X now, at times it exhibits similar behavior - not as bad - but it rears it's ugly head now and then. I drive my M in Sport mode (it's a little different than the G DS mode), and she begins to drive and respond better.

Imau1: I have driven other recent vintage cars available at my place of employment (2012 Ford Taurus, 2011 Lincoln MKS,etc...) which have 6 ATs. They exhibit those hickups too, not quite as bad, but thye have 1 less gear. An associate of mine who regularly drives a Lincoln MKS says that the dealer resets the ECU and within a week or so, it starts with some hesitation and quirkiness. It seems this is the wave of the Future with automatic Trannys.
It's the principal way to achieve better MPGs. For example, on my new M37X, which I do really enjoy overall, I'm achieving 23-24.5 MPGs with suburban City and Highway driving including NY area traffic. I think for this heavy and powerful car: That's pretty good. I use only Premium gas despite what others say that you can use Mid grade or even 87 Octane gas. The Variable Valve engines with electronically controlled timing can adjust to the lower octanes without pinging, but the mileage and POWER sacrifices that I won't make. I only have about 2200 miles on my M to dtae, so it's far from fully broken in...
I've also driven a 2013 Ford Escape with Eco-Boost engine (I think it was a 2.0, but there were no markings on the engine compartment or anywhere else to indicate if it was the 1.6 or 2.0 -Enterprise rental car). It had a 6AT (I think) and she was very responsive with little hesitation. It was NOT a CVT for sure (we have one in our 2010 Subaru Legacy [it too is pretty responsive but does take getting used to]. The Eco_Boost engines are turbo charged with direct fuel injected engines which did NOT shoe that typical Turbo Lag at all. During my test drives for considered replacement cars for my expiring 2010 G37X, overall the winner without a doubt was..... a 2013 Audi A-6 3.0 Quattro - fast, responsive, fantastic handling, very little lag in all driving modes, comfortable BUT expensive. I think as a runner up, for the $$$$$$ value, the M hit the mark. Better than the MB E350 (2013) too IMO.

I gave up on this battle. Took to two different dealership, including the one I bought from - have all told me that my ITB10-075 is the newest/latest one for me even though Service Bulletin points back to 2010 instead of the new ITB12-027. I'm sure there are people like me but at this point, I've given up!

Hmm, I guess that's what was wrong with the '09 I test-drove before getting my car; it felt like it was engine braking really hard when I let off the gas when coming to a stop. I assume it's already been done on my '10 since the shifting doesn't feel funky.
ok so question for all who have had the firmware update...took my 10" 37s sedan to my local dealer this past sat and told them about the harsh transmission/lag and wanted the update performed. So of course they make a technician ride in my car first. Guy tells me that the update can be performed but I will lose responsiveness and car will be even more sluggish when wanting to speed up quickly. And told me performance will not be the same? I havent read that anywhere but wanted to know your feelings on this....is your car less responsive and performance feel like it decreased?
Tech even said that he performed the upgrade for a friend who was so upset at the way the car perfomred afterwards that the guy went and bought a ECU from a junk yard to put it back to the old oem ecu settings
