I just got a 10 S. The trans is very rough in downshifting. Like someone dropped an anchor. In manual mode the downshifts are even harsher.
Problem is my car is not under warranty. How would I get a dealer to do the TSB? From what I searched the tsb is TSB ITB10-075.

Thanks

Uh, go in to the dealer and tell them about your concern and take it from there.

ITB10-075 is the previous update, this had very noticeable lag. The latest one is ITB12-027d.

The drive train warranty is good for 6yrs / 70000miles.

Can a Nissan dealership apply the update? I have an '11 G37xS that I've owned for around 2 months. I really have no transmission complaints EXCEPT when I decelerate down to the 20-25 mph range and hit the gas. Even then, sometimes it's fine and sometimes it's 0.5-1.0 sec lag (as in, the transmission just hangs out without being in gear). The issue is that even I can't reliably reproduce it, so taking it to the Infiniti dealership seems like it will be a laborious discussion. I have a better chance at heading to the Nissan dealership where I at least loosely have some personal connections.

I think the Infiniti dealers are more lax about applying the updates. It's no secret anymore. Mine (Sewell Dallas) does it simply by asking, asking them if there's anything they can do to make it shift smoother.

Seems the dealer by me treats everyone like they don't know anything about a car. So after some complaining & a meeting with the service manager they applied the TSB to my car. Feels a TON better now.
This dealership is a bit snobby I think. They will also point out anything not infiniti on the car & make it seem like the car will die over night unless you have infiniti branded parts...
Ugg...

The flash is free if you're on warranty, and probably free if you're not.

How many miles does your car have? It's covered under the powertrain warranty (6y/70k), not the bumper to bumper (4y/60k). I am not even half way to the miles on my '10.

I just took my car to the dealership yesterday and got the reprogramming done. I didn't notice much of a change at first but I'm definitely feeling a much smoother shift in drive or in manual mode (especially in manual). Very happy thus far.

I took my car today for schedule service (my car has almost 50K miles), and I asked for the transmission to be reprogrammed per the TSB (which I got thanks to this board).

My adviser just called that my car is ready, and that they "did" perform the reprogramming. I will report later how well/different the "new" tranny behaves.

I was was just a short 15-20 minute drive from the dealership home, but I was amazed I could already tell an improvement - the car is a lot smoother now, specially during deceleration.

I look forward to checking 27D a lot more in the coming days, but the first impression was a good one

It has been 2+ weeks since the reprogramming. Best word to describe car behavior now: smooth.

This is the way the G37 should have been from day one. Thanks to the forum and the folks in this thread for the background & know-how to get this fixed

I had the transmission TSB applied 1 week ago, and echo the same sentiments as above. Much smoother shifts now overall, and especially with deceleration. Engine braking is much less than it was originally, too. Overall I am a happy camper! Hope it will continue to be as smooth.

Agreed- the update makes everything smooth. I just added the grounding kit on Tuesday and that helped a bit too.
