Thanks
So the TSB on this is free during the bumper to bumper?

I posted a question to Infiniti Consumer Affairs on why that TSB update wasn't covered under the powertrain warranty (mentioning that my basic warranty expired only 2 months ago) and their response surprised me - I got a Infiniti gift card usable at any Infiniti dealer for the amount I paid with a "Thank You" note

That is what I was told from the service rep.

I'm going to give it a try.

I bought my 2011 G37x used with almost 28K miles on it. I don't know what's been done to it in the past, but I always wonder "what if there's an update for me?"

What's the easiest and most repeatable test to see if you need the update? Should I cruise at 30mph, tap the brake and then floor it? Is that what I need to do to see if there's lag? I assume this all needs to be done in D mode, not in DS mode correct?

What about engine braking in D mode? I have engine braking in DS mode, and it's quite evident. Did this update (or the original one ending in 075) remove engine braking from D mode?

When in DS, if I go to 50mph, and brake hard down to 40mph (not super hard, just sudden and with force), the RPM shoot up past 3K rather quickly. Is this behavior normal even after the latest update?

Drive the car; if the way it drives does not bother you, you don't need an update.

Update made D much more enjoyable to drive, but tamed DS much more than I would have liked.

Yes.

Hi everyone, I'm new here and a prospective G37 owner. I've been researching a lot about the trans lag issue that plagues these cars. I haven't read much about 2013 MY having the same issues, perhaps because they are still relatively new.

Do you guys know if Infiniti finally fixed the issue for MY2013?

Thanks!

No - and I don't think we will get another update. The "modified" the problem in the 2014MY year cars but they still feel sluggish.

I'd suggest changing all your drive fluids (trans, differential, and AWD transfer case - if you have AWD for the last one) and seeing how it feels from there. A couple performance shops that do a lot of tuning say they can fix this as a part of the ECUtek tuning program so we will see if that is the case or not.

I just got back from having the 90,000 mile service at a dealership. While there I asked them about the software update and they said no problem, they'd do it. It didn't cost me any additional money, although what I was already paying for the service was significant. Anyway, the 2 hour drive home was like driving a new car. Smooth and accurate shifts and no hesitation whatsoever. It's early yet, but so far the software update seems to have completely fixed the hesitation issues. Thanks to all of you for making me aware of this software update and how to get it.

You just wait until your trans learns your driving and begins to shift like mud. Happened to me and a few others who I've spoken to.

I wish there was an option to disable the learning function of the software.

I guess it's too soon to tell about long term, but it is nice not to have that hesitation while it finds the gear. The service manager told me that the new update disables something but I can't remember what it was that it disables. It was after they were done and I was so tired from being in Greenville all day that I only half listened to what he was saying. I may call him today and ask. I will say that I was impressed and happy with the way we were treated and respected in that service department, but I hope their update keeps that warm and fuzzy feeling going.

BTW, as you mentioned in your previous post above this, their software update was twofold, including the ECU. As part of the visit, they also changed out every fluid in the car, including trans, differential, and AWD transfer case. I'm not mechanically inclined enough to understand what effect all of that would have, but I'm hoping for the best. I'm just trying to get another trouble-free 50,000 miles out of this car with a better-feeling transmission added to the mix.

You know there is a pretty easy ECU reset procedure that clears what it has learned, right? No need to disconnect the battery or that stuff, it's all down inside the car with timing and pedal pressing/depressing.

Still annoying that if u choose to gingerly drive the car, it does pick up on that. However, when you do lead foot driving after clearing the ECU...it certainly learns that as well and gives you the according acceleration and throttle input off the line.

krazyfriend, can you share the ECU reset proceedure again here please !!! I used to have a 2010 G37X (On this thread they Know mw - Almatti) but now have a 2013 M37X. The Tranny is better in the 13 M but still experiences the "learning" ECU issues. THX
