I can understand the guys who buy the 335i at those inflated prices, you will get superior performance out of that car. The C350 on the other hand......

I just picked up an 09 sedan with a build date of 10/09. It shifts smoothly and seems pretty good overall. I have experienced a couple harder downshifts when slowing to a stop, but nothing to be concerned about. One thing I have noticed is a delay when trying to kick it down a couple gears in full auto. It seems to pause for sec before downshifting. Maybe that'll improve with more miles on it?

Bingo, we have the same problem. Shortly after we purchased our G37 sedan, about 3000 on the odometer, the car began to chug at about 2500 rpms. We pulled over, and at the suggestion of my son in law, we turned off the ignition, waited about a minute, and started it again. It drove fine but we took it to two Infiniti dealerships who ran diagnostics and said they could find nothing wrong. They gave us the same response you received, that the gas was bad or the car had not yet become used to our driving. Well, it just happened again at 13,000 miles. We don't know what to do as we get no sympathy from the dealerships. Its almost as if they think we are making it up. We do love the car, but this is getting scary.
Go to the TSB section and find the bulletin for the 4th to 3rd harsh shifting. Take your car into the dealer with the TSB and have them ensure you have the latest firmware. Additionally, it might be worthwhile investing in some grounding kits.

If the standard shift isn't as agressive as you like, try driving it in DS mode. It definately runs the RPM's up on shifts.

I see that as well, especially at highway speed. I'll give it a bit of gas and expect a fast response and get nothing, then it'll downshift from 7th to 4th and take off like a bat outta' hell. I'm learning to use manual mode more, and drop from 7th to 6th or 5th as I throttle up, and it's a lot smoother.

Welcome to my world (the lack of response in D followed by slamming from 7 -> 4). Been like that since I had my TCM reflashed in July. One of long list of mistakes I've made in my life

If you know it is coming, put the car into DS mode. It will drop you into 5th(if you are in 7th) and keep your RPMs up. There is quite a performance difference. I also love DS for hills or twists and turns.

Just picked up a 2010 G37x. I have the same experience. I brought it back and took a tech out for a spin. He acknowledged a problem and the dealership is putting in a formal complaint to corporate. What is the TSB? and why didn't my dealership have any idea about this?

Let me know please

Red Dragon', TSB = technical service bulletin. Check the forums list, they are all
posted on here for all to read. It also helps to read them and go "armed with
the info"" when you go to the dealer. I can't tell you why any dealer would
not be aware of a TSB other than they just haven't encountered that specific
issue yet. My delivering dealer missed two TSBs on my car before delivery
and I was furious that they delivered a $43K car without correcting known
issues before they sold it. I made such a politically correct and insistent
complaint up-the-chain that Nissan gave me a free premium service plan
as compensation. Good Luck

What month was your G manufactured?

JohnEnglish,

If I may please, what month was your G built? I have a '09 G sedan made in August of 2008 with the aforementioned 7AT; and have not experienced any of the rough transmission downshift's either. Perhaps the early production units are free of this problem.

I thought it was the earlier ones with the issue and the newer ones are problem free.

I wouldn't say the newer ones are perfect...
