Plastic bag melted on exhaust

I got a plastic bag melted to my y pipe. It happened a couple days ago, pulled the bulk of it off, but some residue is stuck/melted on and my car smells like burning plastic. Any thoughts on how to get rid of the rest. I don't want to scuff up the polished exhaust if at all possible.

I had one melt onto a cat of mine, took a torch to the cat and a wire brushed it off. I used a torch so I wouldnt burn myself on the rest of the exhaust.

Thanks, looks like I should have searched a little harder
I guess the polished finish will have to be scrubbed/scraped to get the rest off.

OP, if you are worried about the polished finish, you could try using a fine grit sand paper to remove the plastic residue and then use a metal polish to bring back the original shine.

This would be easy if you have access to a lift, but may be hard otherwise.

I took off the y pipe sections so I can work on a bench. Much easier. I would go crazy trying this on my back with no room to work. Scotch brite pad and goof off is getting, but its pretty slow. I may or may not polish afterwards, depends on if I'm lazy or not.

It happened on one of my previous cars. The smell was awful for a little while, but eventually just burned off on its own.

2 hours of scrubbing with steel wool and acetone, gave up on goof off and scotch-brite. My exhaust looked like freddy krueger's face before I started.
